It’s finally official—Alexa Havins, best known for her role as Babe Carey on All My Children, will be making her much-anticipated return to daytime television as Lulu Spencer on General Hospital. After a two-month wait since the initial announcement, fans can mark their calendars for her debut on November 18th, as she takes over the iconic role previously portrayed by Emme Rylan.
Havins, who rose to fame on All My Children, expressed her excitement in an interview with TV Guide Magazine, where she teased what fans can expect from her portrayal of Lulu. “The writers have written some fun things,” Havins shared, adding, “She’s waking up from a four-year coma, so we’ve got a lot of twists and turns, and we hit the ground running.” If that doesn’t promise drama, we don’t know what does!
The character of Lulu Spencer has been through quite a journey on General Hospital, and with Havins stepping into the role, viewers can expect a fresh new dynamic. As Lulu comes out of her coma, it sounds like her storyline will bring plenty of high-stakes moments and emotional twists.
Though Havins left daytime TV in 2007, she remained active in television, making guest appearances in numerous high-profile series like CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, Grey’s Anatomy, Castle, Constantine, Barry, and Sweet Magnolias, which also stars her real-life husband, Justin Bruening (ex-Jamie Martin from All My Children). Havins has shared how her role on Sweet Magnolias, where she played Justin’s ex-wife, almost felt like a full-circle moment for the couple, bringing closure to their shared acting history.
But that wasn’t the end of their on-screen collaborations. The couple also starred together in the 2024 film Right Here, Right Now, where they played parents navigating the challenges of raising a teenager.
For General Hospital fans, Havins’ return marks a significant moment in the show's history, especially given the emotional weight of Lulu's recovery from such a long coma. Fans can’t wait to see how the writers weave her back into the fabric of Port Charles.
Be sure to tune in on November 18th to catch Alexa Havins in her exciting new role as Lulu Spencer—General Hospitalis about to get a whole lot more dramatic!
