'All American' Cast Shakeup Ahead of Season 7

Updated: Sep 25

An overhaul of All American is officially happening as the series prepares for its seventh season. Only three original cast members—Michael Evans Behling (Jordan), Greta Onieogou (Layla), and Bre-Z (Coop)—have signed new deals to return as series regulars.

Several other mainstays, including Samantha Logan (Olivia), Cody Christian (Asher), Karimah Westbrook (Grace), Monét Mazur (Laura), and Chelsea Tavares (Patience), will not be returning in regular roles. Daniel Ezra, who has portrayed Spencer James since the show’s beginning, will not be a series regular but is set to return as a guest star and director for the new season. The CW has also indicated that other beloved original characters will make guest appearances.

To address the departures of several main cast members, All American has added two new regulars for Season 7. According to the official logline, the upcoming season will return to the roots of the story, focusing on Beverly Hills High and South Crenshaw High. It promises to capture the same heart, NFL dreams, crosstown rivalries, and teen drama, all while introducing a new generation of L.A. teens, along with a new coach. The original cast members will find themselves stepping into the role of "responsible adults" as they navigate these changes alongside the new characters.

Osy Ikhile (known for Citadel and Black Mirror) has been cast as Cassius Jeremy, the new football coach at Beverly High. Described as a tough family man, Coach Jeremy has recently moved from Oakland and is determined to restore Beverly football to its former glory, even if it means going head-to-head with South Crenshaw High’s program.

Nathaniel McIntyre (David Makes Man) will co-star as Kingston Jeremy (KJ), Coach Jeremy's son and the newly transferred quarterback at Beverly High, who is laser-focused on his NFL aspirations.

Additionally, Antonio J. Bell and Alexis Chikaeze, who appeared in Season 6 as Khalil and Preach’s daughter Amina, have been promoted to series regulars for Season 7, expanding the cast as the show shifts into this new chapter.

The cast changes in All American seem to reflect a natural progression from the events of Season 6, which wrapped up several key storylines while leaving some threads open for exploration. Spencer and Olivia's marriage and their plans for New York provide a solid foundation for new dynamics, especially with the introduction of Coach Jeremy and KJ, who will likely bring fresh rivalries and challenges.

Jordan stepping into a coaching role at South Crenshaw adds an intriguing layer, especially with the mystery he uncovered, which could lead to compelling story arcs. Coop’s decision between law schools also presents opportunities for character development and conflict.

Overall, the plans for Season 7 feel like a blend of nostalgia and new beginnings, allowing the show to explore both the legacy of its original characters and the ambitions of the new generation. It’ll be interesting to see how the dynamics shift with the returning and new cast members. The 2025 return gives fans plenty of time to anticipate these developments!
