
Vernon tells Jacob that the officers on the scene cleared Dani. Jacob informs them that Bill brought on new charges. He presented them to the state attorney’s office. Jacob says that his lieutenant said they needed to handle it with discretion, and he figured since he is family—but Anita cuts him off. She demands to know how he can use that word while Mirandizing his mother-in-law. Meanwhile, Bill contacts one of his press connections and tells them that one of the Duprees is being arrested.
At the hospital, Ted is looking for Nicole, who is on the roof with Leslie, pretending to be suicidal. Nicole tries to talk her down. Leslie puts on a convincing act. If I can put my bid in for performer of the week early, it would be Trisha Mann-Grant. Doug is back on top, gambling with his new cash fronted by Joey. He talks to Randy and admits to having scary moments with Joey. Randy tries to talk him out of gambling, but he doesn’t listen.
At the Uptown, Andre is having a drink at the bar. Derek joins her. She is stressing over Jacob and Naomi. They were couple goals. She says Dani just got arrested as Hayley comes in. She leaves, likely headed for Bill. Back at the Duprees, Jacob says he doesn’t want to do this. He convinced them to kill the lights and sirens. Vernon talks Dani into allowing the cuffs. She is arrested for attempted murder. Dani says the arrest is a load of crap. Naomi is pissed with Jacob and says she will never forgive him for turning into her father’s errand boy.
Jacob marches Dani down to the station. The Duprees follow. He tells them to wait outside while he starts processing. Anita tells him to go ahead; they will watch. On the ledge, Leslie continues her game with Nicole. Nicole asks her name. Leslie hesitates as she thinks of a lie. She tells her that her name is Sheri. Nicole tries to get her to talk, and she focuses on her shoes, telling her they are expensive and she cannot afford her. Nicole says it is free of charge. Leslie says she lost her husband six months ago. She feels alone. Ted is worried about Nicole; it has been too long. He says damn protocol, and is going up on the roof.
Eva meets Andre at the bar. He flirts, but she tells him she wasn’t flirting. She is Nicole’s new assistant. He invites her to have a drink. She tells him she recognized him from his photos of Nicole. Her favorite was when he showed the people behind the mask. He reads her a bit. She says she has never heard that many nice words about herself. They bring up Ted. His plans for the night were canceled.
At the station, Dani turns her mugshots into a photoshoot. Smitty tells them there is a reporter out on the bench. Martin nearly loses his cool. Bill shows up to antagonize the Duprees. Martin gets in Bill’s face. At the hospital, Nicole talks Sheri down. She invites her to have tea in her office, then extends her hand. ‘Sheri’ takes her hand. When Nicole and Sheri get off the elevator, Ted watches them. As they walk away, Leslie shoots him a sly wink.
In Nicole’s office, Leslie says she regrets being on the roof. She says her husband left her. Nicole had assumed she meant dead. She tells her no, him and his new wife live in town. She expresses her desire to get revenge on him. Ted eavesdrops and it begins to click that she is talking about him. At the bar, Eva tells Andre he can go talk to his friends, referring to Derek and Ashley. He does just that.
Bill threatens to press charges against Martin. Vernon says he will have the charges dropped by the end of the night. Chelsea is appalled and feels her father is using her to get at her mother. They argue, and Hayley comes in. She argues with Bill. She reminds him that they agreed to let it go. She accuses him of holding on to Dani. He denies it. She tells him his desire for petty revenge is more important than her. He says it is not, and she tells him to prove it.
Nicole offers to counsel Leslie, but Leslie declines. Still, Nicole gives her a list of recommended therapists. Ted corners Leslie near the elevators asking what the hell she is doing there. Doug is winning, but he’s addicted and makes excuses as to why he cannot quit. Meanwhile, Bill drops the charges. Dani tells him not to expect thanks. Bill tells her to thank Hayley. Dani tells her she would not be there had it not been for her. Hayley claims to own her mistakes. Jacob asks Naomi if he can come home. Naomi says that he could have given her a heads-up, but he didn’t trust her in that moment and she doesn’t trust him in this one.
At the Duprees, Anita wonders where Nicole is. Martin explains where she is. Smitty pulls Martin aside to talk to him about his temper. He is dismissive of Smitty as usual. He tells Dani that she worked the mugshot as Smitty talks to Vernon about Martin’s temper. Dani worries about Jacob and Naomi. Anita tells her that she knew what dating a cop entailed. She cannot expect him to make excuses when it is convenient for the family. Naomi isn’t hearing it and decides to leave. At the bar, Ashley says she didn’t know that Andre was seeing Eva. He says that he isn’t. He soon leaves.
Ted tells Leslie to stay away from his wife in a hospital hallway. They had an affair. He paid her off. He asks her how much she wants. Leslie says what would Nicole do if she told her the truth. Ted threatens her. Undeterred, Leslie taunts him.
Ted leaves to find Nicole and finds her in her office. He asks what happened. Nicole holds fast to doctor-patient confidentiality. Meanwhile, Leslie is back on the roof. She fills Eva in on what she has been up to. Eva tells her this is not OK. She cannot take unnecessary risks.
Naomi goes home. She doesn’t hate Jacob, but she doesn’t want to sleep with him. She tells him he can sleep on the couch. It feels like he chose Bill over her. Meanwhile, Hayley tells Bill that if they are to work, he has to stop antagonizing Dani and the Duprees.
Chelsea is over her father. She doesn’t know how she will look him in the eyes. Dani tells her to base her relationship with Bill on how he treats her as her father, not how he treats Dani. Anita tells Dani that she is proud of her. It doesn’t last because Dani sees this as an invitation back to the dance. Anita reminds her that she would be in a cell if not for Hayley. Dani says he doesn’t do what he doesn’t want to, and she loves the wicked man. If he were reaching out, then she would take him back. Oh, Dani, Dani, Dani...
