
Eva is at the office when Nicole comes in. She compliments Nicole on her look. Nicole is humble about her upcoming television interview, but she’s looking for her bracelet, her lucky charm. Eva notices that Nicole seems more on edge than usual.
At the Duprees, Vernon asks Anita about Dani. He wants to know if she was able to get through to her. Anita explains what happened, and Vernon asks if she thinks Dani is listening. Dani walks in and says, “Of course I was.”
Bill plans to hold a press conference at the same time as Nicole’s interview. He thinks the Duprees will use it to defame him and Hayley. Hayley tells him that if there’s a problem, he’s causing it. Bill insists he’s just trying to get ahead of the Duprees. Sounds like he’s just as obsessed as Dani.
Naomi gets dressed for work. Jacob enters the bedroom and asks if she slept well. He tries to pretend she didn’t go to bed angry, but she tells him to stop. She says he betrayed her trust. He tells her he is doing his job. She reminds him that he helped Bill with his sneak attack, and now she doesn’t trust him.
Eva is looking at a family picture of the Richardsons. She imagines herself in the photo. Ted walks in and asks what it is about the picture. Eva says she always wanted a sibling. He asks if she has one, and she tells him she doesn’t know. She never met her father, so it’s possible she does.
Tomas and a colleague discuss Bill’s situation. Meanwhile, Hayley tries to talk Bill into focusing on their marriage instead of his vendetta. She tells him to let this be the last thing. Bill says it will be, but she doesn’t look convinced.
Dani says she’s not ready to be on camera. Nicole comes in, and Dani tells her not to worry; she’s not there to steal her shine.
The plan is for Anita and Vernon to answer questions about the shotgun wedding.
Jacob asks Naomi why she’s making him the villain. He says she’s not holding Dani accountable—she brought a loaded gun to the wedding. Naomi isn’t hearing it. She asks if he would have arrested her and then takes off, leaving him with the parting shot that she knows where her loyalties lie.
Nicole and Dani talk about Leslie and her arrest. Meanwhile, at the diner, Leslie meets up with Mona and Jan. She’s in a good mood and says she woke up feeling optimistic because the future holds possibilities. Leslie Dana hasn’t met a delusion that she didn’t like.
Ted asks Eva if anyone has ever been looking for her father. She says no. He didn’t want her. Ted says that’s his loss and tells her about Andre and his loss. It forced him to think about how his kids would survive without him. He offers to be there for her.
Chelsea shows up and asks her mother what she’s wearing. Dani says she plans to be scarce during the interview. The reporter comes in, and they get set up. Meanwhile, Bill calls a press conference to disparage Dani. He says Dani slandered him and Hayley and agrees to answer any and all questions. He’s genuinely a jackass. He wouldn’t keep antagonizing her and her family if he wanted to be free of Dani. He tells the press he didn’t invite Dani to the wedding to provoke her and suggests Dani be mentally evaluated.
Mona tells the girls she’s seeking retail therapy after her day off. She says she’s looking for a break from Dupree chaos. The interview is on TV at the diner. Nicole says that she owes everything she is to her family. The reporter brings up Dani. Anita and Vernon shut her down. They say they understand what drove Dani to her actions. The reporter brings up Bill’s conference and asks if they have a response. Dani comes in and says she can respond.
Bill lies about what happened when Dani came by. Dani owns up to her actions, which contrasts with what Bill claims. He slanders the Dupree family completely.
Marcel Malone shows up and says he’s Jacob’s new partner. He’s rude to Jacob and tells him to fetch his coffee. He’s a total ass. Naomi makes Dani a drink and gives her praise for how she handled the interview. Dani apologizes for everything she’s put them through. She tells Naomi not to let her mistakes cost her the love of a lifetime. Anita adds to the praise and tells Dani they’re proud of her.
Eva is back to snooping in Nicole’s desk. She finds the bracelet just as Nicole comes in. Chelsea and Kat meet at the country club. Kat got them a meeting with an investor, but Chelsea wants to do it on her own. Kat says just in case. Kat wants to hang out, but Chelsea has plans. Kat says she can push back her situationship for time with them. Kat is disappointed that Chelsea is seeing multiple people.
Marcel gives Jacob a hard time, but Jacob stands up to him. Nicole asks Ted if he caught the interview. He did. They talk about Bill, and Nicole says he can go to hell. He’s selfish. Ted offers to talk to Jacob and Naomi. Nicole says the smartest decision she ever made was agreeing to marry him. They hug, and he looks off into the distance, remembering Leslie.
We fade to Leslie and Eva meeting at the diner. Eva tells her about her conversation with Ted. Leslie tells her to be careful; she’s playing a dangerous game. This coming from the woman playing cat and mouse with Ted. At Bill’s office, he gives Tomas cases to handle while he’s on his honeymoon. Tomas asks if it’s okay to date Kat, and Bill says if he wants to play with fire, go ahead.
Jacob remembers Naomi asking when he knew about Bill and Hayley. Jacob says he’s never trusted Bill because he saw himself in him. He uses his skills for good, but Bill uses those skills for self-serving reasons. He tells her he’ll do his best to tell her the truth unless his job prevents it. She doesn’t have to worry about their worlds colliding.
Chelsea tells Kat she’s seeing a man—and his wife. There are no labels; she likes what she likes. Kat says she’s more of a Michelle looking for her, Barack. Still, she asks, “How is it?” Chelsea whispers in her ear, and they laugh.
Naomi returns home to Jacob packing. He plans to get a hotel room. She tells him not to leave. They embrace.
The episode concludes with Jacob and Naomi reassuring each other and making up. Kat gets a phone call from Tomas. He can’t get her off his mind and would love to see her again. She’s headed out of town but can cook him dinner when she returns. Vernon and Anita have a sweet moment. Bill watches Dani’s portion of the interview as Dani watches his press conference.
