CBS's Beyond the Gates, the first new daytime soap opera in 25 years, has welcomed 10 new cast members to its lineup.
Set in a picturesque Maryland suburb just outside Washington, D.C., and one of the most affluent African American counties in the U.S., Beyond the Gates features a luxurious gated community with tree-lined streets and grand mansions. At the heart of this community is the Dupree family, a powerful multi-generational clan that embodies Black royalty. However, behind their polished exteriors lie deep secrets and scandals, with those living outside the gates watching closely.
The logline reveals, “These are the places where our characters live, love, work, and play. Those who have ‘made it’ and those who haven’t are all trying to navigate life — some with more grace than others.”
Michele Val Jean, known for her work on The Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital, and Santa Barbara, is the creator, executive producer, and showrunner of Beyond the Gates. The show was developed by CBS Studios in collaboration with the NAACP.
Additional executive producers include industry veterans Robert Guza Jr. (GH, Port Charles, Santa Barbara) and Julie Carruthers (All My Children, GH, Port Charles, Santa Barbara), along with Sheila Ducksworth (Soul Food), Derrick Johnson, Leon Russell, Kimberly Doebereiner, and Anna Saalfeld.
Beyond the Gates is set to premiere in early 2025, following the conclusion of CBS’s The Talk in December.
