Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the highly anticipated sequel from Warner Bros to the 1988 Tim Burton-directed comedic horror film starring Michael Keaton, has entered a three-week tracking period this morning with a projected opening of $80M.
The film, starring Jenna Ortega, appeals to both older women and younger audiences. Jenna Ortega was also instrumental in the success of Scream VI, which set a new domestic opening record with $44.4M.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is just a few weeks away from its release, scheduled for the post-Labor Day weekend, a popular slot for horror films. The world premiere of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will be at the Venice Film Festival as the opening-night feature, generating even more buzz for the film. The original Burton movie opened to $8M on March 30, 1988, and ended its domestic run at $74.7M.
