‘Boy Meets World’ Star Danielle Fishel Reveals Breast Cancer Diagnosis
Danielle Fishel, known for her role in "Boy Meets World," shared on the most recent episode of her podcast "Pod Meets World" about her experience of being diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 43.
“I was recently diagnosed with DCIS, which stands for Ductal carcinoma in situ, which is a form of breast cancer,” she said at the start of the Aug. 19 episode. “It’s very very very early, it’s technically stage zero.”
Fishel further elaborated that she received a diagnosis of “high-grade DCIS with micro-invasion” and intends to undergo surgery to have it removed.
She mentioned that she had to make numerous decisions recently. Initially, she intended to confide in only her close family and friends and keep it to herself. She believed in enduring silently and dealing with it alone until she overcame it. However, her perspective shifted after being inspired by author Glennon Doyle's writings, suggesting that women should support each other from the start or during challenging times, rather than waiting until everything is resolved.
Rider Strong and Will Friedle, who both acted alongside Fishel in "Boy Meets World," were among the first individuals she informed following her family.
