After 14 years, Chad Duell has announced that he’s leaving General Hospital and stepping away from the role of Michael Corinthos. In an Instagram post, Duell shared that while it was a tough decision, it felt like the right time for him personally. He expressed gratitude to the cast, crew, and fans, writing, “Your love and encouragement has meant the world to me.” Duell emphasized that this isn't a permanent goodbye, but rather a "see you later."
Duell joined GH in 2010, taking over the role of Michael from Drew Garrett. His portrayal of Sonny and Carly's son earned him multiple Daytime Emmy nominations, with a win in 2015 for Outstanding Supporting Actor. His departure has fans speculating about the future of the character, especially with Michael currently caught in a dramatic storyline involving his wife’s betrayal, a family battle over Aurora, and a potential new addition to his family.
Though Duell has been temporarily replaced by Robert Adamson due to a scheduling conflict, GH has confirmed that Duell will return soon. As for Michael's future, it's unclear if there will be a recast, but fans can expect plenty of drama ahead, especially with the major revelations coming in Michael’s storyline. Duell signed off his message with “Much love, Chad,” leaving the door open for a future return.
