Canceled Soap 'All My Children' Eyeing Comeback
TVLine reports that All My Children may be revived via a series of TV movies.
UPDATE 9/11 3:06PM: Two movies are in development, one will be holiday themed.
That’s exciting news for fans of All My Children! A revival through TV movies could be a great way to bring back the beloved characters and storylines while adapting to the modern TV landscape. It’s interesting that Lifetime might be involved, as they’ve been known for their strong TV movie lineup. Even though the discussions are still in the exploratory phase, it’s promising to hear that there’s interest in bringing Pine Valley back.
It’s clear that there’s been a lot of interest in keeping the All My Children legacy alive, both through revivals and crossovers. The attempt at a primetime version with Pine Valley shows how the franchise has been explored in different formats, even if that particular project didn’t pan out. Bringing Jackson Montgomery back to General Hospital was a nice nod to fans and a way to keep the connection between the soaps alive.
The timing of this potential revival on Lifetime is interesting, especially with CBS gearing up to debut The Gates, which marks a new entry into daytime soaps. It’s great to see that despite the challenges, there’s still enthusiasm for the soap opera genre.
Do you have any favorite characters or storylines from the original series that you’d love to see continued?
I care about the Kane/Montgomerys, the Martins, The Hubbards and Bobby&Anita. Hopefully somebody with some sense and love for AMC is involved because the premise of that Primetime show that didn't happen was trash.
