CBS Announces Premiere Date and Time Slot for Daytime Drama "Beyond the Gates," Streaming on Paramount+
CBS has officially announced the premiere date for its highly anticipated daytime drama Beyond the Gates. The series will debut on Monday, February 24, 2025, airing weekdays at 2:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. PT on the CBS Television Network. In addition, Beyond the Gates will be available to stream live and on-demand for Paramount+ subscribers.
The show, a collaboration between CBS Studios and the NAACP Venture, began production on October 30, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new studio in Atlanta, Georgia, where cast, crew, and producers gathered to mark the official start of the project. During the ceremony, the cast also signed scripts and wrote letters to their future selves, which will be placed in a time capsule on the series' set to be opened years later. Filming officially began on November 1.
Beyond the Gates features a diverse ensemble cast, including Tamara Tunie, Clifton Davis, Daphnee Duplaix, Karla Mosley, Alex Alegria, Lauren Buglioli, Brandon Claybon, Timon Kyle Durrett, Sean Freeman, Ben Gavin, Marquita Goings, Jibre Hordges, Jen Jacob, Maurice Johnson, Trisha Mann-Grant, Mike Manning, RhonniRose Mantilla, Ambyr Michelle, Colby Muhammad, and Arielle Prepetit.
Set in an affluent Maryland suburb just outside Washington, D.C., Beyond the Gates focuses on the Dupree family, a powerful and prestigious multi-generational Black family who embody what it means to be "Black royalty." The series explores their lives within the walls of an exclusive gated community, where luxury and secrets collide. Behind the pristine facades and perfectly manicured lawns, tensions rise, family drama unfolds, and hidden scandals threaten to be exposed. As the Duprees navigate the complexities of love, power, career, and family, they are constantly aware of the scrutiny from those living beyond the gates.
The show is the first Black daytime soap opera (featuring an all black cast; Generations, 1989, was the first soap opera to have a black family from launch) and the first new daytime drama to launch since Passions in 1999. Developed by CBS Studios and the NAACP Venture, Beyond the Gates is created by Michele Val Jean, who also serves as showrunner, executive producer, and head writer. Joining her as executive producers are Sheila Ducksworth, Robert Guza Jr. (General Hospital, Sunset Beach), Julie Carruthers (All My Children, Port Charles), Leon Russell, Derrick Johnson, Kimberly Doebereiner, and Anna Saalfeld.
For Paramount+ subscribers with Showtime, Beyond the Gates will be available to stream live through the local CBS affiliate, as well as on-demand. Paramount+ Essential subscribers will have access to episodes the day after they air, though they will not be able to stream live.
