CBS is bringing back the beloved game show Hollywood Squares, and its all-star lineup has been unveiled. As previously announced, CBS Mornings co-anchor Nate Burleson will host the reboot, with Drew Barrymore taking on the iconic center square.
Barrymore will be joined by a diverse roster of celebrities, including Tyra Banks (America’s Next Top Model), Julie Bowen (Modern Family), Yvette Nicole Brown (Community), Whitney Cummings (Whitney), Akbar Gbajabiamila (American Ninja Warrior), Tiffany Haddish (The Afterparty), Oliver Hudson (Rules of Engagement), Pete Holmes (Crashing), Gabriel Iglesias (The Santa Clauses), Jo Koy, Jay Leno (The Tonight Show), Justin Long (Goosebumps), Kevin Nealon (Man With a Plan), RuPaul (Lingo), Andrew Rannells (Girls), Kristen Schaal (The Last Man on Earth), Sheryl Underwood (The Talk), Jimmy O. Yang (Interior Chinatown), and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. Additional celebrity participants will be announced later.
For those unfamiliar with the format, Hollywood Squares is a game of tic-tac-toe with a twist. Two contestants compete to win cash and prizes by selecting squares occupied by celebrity guests. Each celebrity answers a question posed by the player, who must then decide whether the answer is correct.
The original Hollywood Squares aired from 1966 to 1980 on NBC, hosted by Peter Marshall, with Paul Lynde famously holding the center square. The show was previously revived in syndication, first with John Davidson (1986–1989) and later with Tom Bergeron (1998–2004).
The latest iteration of Hollywood Squares premieres Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, at 8/7c on CBS. Starting Jan. 29, the show will move to Wednesdays as part of CBS Game Night, following The Price Is Right at Night and Raid the Cage.
With its fresh cast of comedic and charismatic stars, the reboot promises to deliver the same mix of humor and trivia that made the original a hit.
