We open with Pascal very happy to be back in a good spot with his wife. Pascal being sweet and making plans with his wife.

We see Violet and Carver both in the lockers. They acknowledge each other, but say nothing to one another. Cruz comes in to pay a bet to Carver and he says it looks like he had a rough night.  Violet walks away, but is close enough to hear Carver and Cruz’s conversation. Carver admits he and Tori shut down a bar last night and he says she has been like that since high school, so that answers the question igpf how Carver knew her and moved on so quickly.

Damon approaches Stella and asks about the drills that will be run today by Kelly today for the squad. Stella says how the truck gets the squads hand me downs. It's just how they do things when a call comes in. When arriving on the scene they find out a woman is pinned underneath a boat. Immediately Kelly let’s truck know what to do. Herman, Stella, and Herman have what to do and relay thIs information to their team. They start to disburse when Damon runs directly to the boat. Stella is vocal telling Damon to fall back but he ignores her. Kelly sees the entire interaction, but says nothing. The team goes into action saving the woman even though there are some problems. It’s clear Damon wants to be a part of Kelly’s team, but he isn’t and it’s clear he was out of line. The fifty one is tending to each person and Novak asks the driver of the boat how many drinks he has had. He admits a couple. When Stella goes to inform the police the driver tries to flee. Novak and Herman hold him until the cops take him in.

Now back at the station Stella pulls up Damon and he says he didn’t hear her. Cruz observes then walks away. Then Kelly can see and hears the entire conversation. Stella says you obey your commanding officer. Damon says it will not happen again.

Herman ask Mouch if they can talk. Herman goes on to admit that he wasn’t actually sick when the captain's test came up. He admits he lied because he was worried about filling Boden’s shoes. Mouch is quick to point out that Boden basically said the seat was his, what doubts should he have. Herman says when you have been told you're not good enough for so long it’s hard to believe otherwise. Mouch says you didn’t have to lie. Herman says he is right and he is so sorry to do that to him. Herman says he has signed up for the next test in a couple of months.

Pascal gathers tge team leads. He lets them know he has to head out to headquarters, but would like to go over the reports of the call like last episode. Pascal says he was listening to the call over the radio and things sounded chaotic. Pascal says they will start with the squad when he gets back. Stella was not happy he was listening over the radio. Herman advises that Biden liked to do that sometimes. Stella asks how long do they think he will do that. Kelly admits as long as he wants to.

Herman’s wife stops by the station. She is looking fir his input on a rug she wants to buy. Being married for over thirty years Herman knows how to read his wife to make her happy. As she hugs Herman for making the right choice she asks him if he is wearing cologne. Mrs. Herman lets him know how good he smells. she would appreciate it if he smelled like that when he got home because she will be waiting.

We are at the hospital with Violet and Novak. They are talking about getting Violet to move on and get over Carver. Violet lets her know she appreciates everything that she is trying, but she is not into dating right now.

Damon goes into Kelly’s office. Kelly lets him know he wants to go over the call from earlier. Damon is excited to talk about the call and has some questions, but Kelly cuts to the chase and says your lieutenant ordered you to stand down. Kelly says I know you heard her, I saw you. Damon admits he did hear her and tries to explain that he feels Stella had had it out for him from the start and she will probably report him and have him fired which could ruin his career. Kelly looks on as he takes in what Damon just said.

Stella goes to Kelly and ask how his report is going because she would like to talk to him. Stella says she will make it quick. Stella advocates for Damon. Stella says he has a lot of promise, but doesn’t know how to harness the extra energy. Stella suggests that he run drills with the squad today and after to see how it goes. Stella says she believes in Damon. Kelly agrees he will allow it if that’s what she wants. Kelly looks worried as Stella exits his office.

Now we have Herman going all over the firehouse looking fir the scent that his wife likes. The guys are backing away because he is asking them to smell his neck. Herman is smelling everything in the bathroom, bedrooms searching for the scent.

We are at headquarters and Pascale comes across an old friend that he started his career with. They go over old times, she says it’s great that he is back in Chicago. Pascal says it’s a full circle moment. Just then she apologizes about his marriage breaking up between him and Monica. Pascal becomes stoic and asks where did you hear that. The former colleague says maybe she heard wrong and she is so sorry. She says that her and her husband would love to have him and Monica over for dinner and with that she takes her leave.

Cruz checks in on Mouch and how the studying is going. Cruz admits he saw Stella get on Damon about the call earlier and what was that all about. Mouch says he doesn’t know, but he will stay out of the Stella, Kelly, Damon triangle. Cruz says he tried to say something to Kelly last shift and he almost ripped him a new one. Mouch says that is just asking for trouble.

Herman is back ti asking people to smell his neck. They are all telling him to back off. Now everyone is trying to figure out where the scent comes from. Herman suggests laundry detergent. They tell him that was changed weeks ago. Then Herman remembers that he helped a man that had his bare arm around his neck this morning and that must be it. A call comes through just as Herman has the realization, but it seems to be an ambulance call.

The ambulance team is on the scene when a young man directs them into his apartment. He is explaining that it was an accident and he didn’t mean to hurt her. He threw her up against the shower. He says he kept her talking so she wouldn’t pass out. The lady seems to be attached to a part of the shower. It’s literally in her body and the only way to get it off is to cut the bracket. The patient asks why you can just pull it out. They inform her the bracket is stuck on the wall and is the shape of a hook. The safest way is to cut the bracket from the wall and the. Go to the hospital to have the bracket removed. Violet is being very accommodating and reassuring the patient. Stella gives directions to stay as close to the wall as possible. When Carver approaches the patient starts to panic. Violet reassures her that Carver knows what he is doing. Violet lets her know to hold onto her abd she will be fine. Carver asks are you good and Violet says I trust you. The sawing begins and Carver frees the patient. They get her on  the gurney. Carver observes how great Violet is with the patient and has longing in his eyes. They share a glacé and go about their way.

Once Stella is back she approaches Damon and says despite what happened earlier she notices his initiative and as a reward he will train with the squad today. Stella lets him know Kelly is on board with this. Damon immediately goes to Kelly to thank him. Kelly says this was Stella’s idea. Kelly does not respond, but does seem a little off about the conversation.

Herman just finds out that the man he helped at the boat call is still in the ED. Herman asks Ritter to ride along with him in order to find out the scent the gentleman was wearing. Mouch doesn’t seem to like this and says to Herman "don't you have better things to do?" Herman says they will be back in less than an hour.

Stella is in with Pascal giving her report. Pascal asks why didn’t you run the saw. Stella says that the pay is all good with the saw abd Carver has a steady hand. Stella admits she wanted to be there as oversight. Pascal says that Stella’s rig has a high turnover rate. Stella talks about something that's happened out of her control, but she feels they have a solid core crew now. Pascal simply says he hopes so.

We are now on drills with the squad. Cruz and Damon are up. Kelly instructs them and the time begins. Once the drill is over Kelly admits it wasn’t even close. The other team of two start to argue with Cruz. Cruz tries to defend that he had Damon on his team. It’s going back and forth and Kelly shuts it all down. He lets the other guys know to be on the airbags. Kelly tells Damon and Cruz to reset and run it again. Damon says he will bring it this time. Cruz lets him know he is the first truckie to ever run drills with the squad and asks how Kelly agreed to it. Damon replies and says he didn't say a word and it wasn't his idea, then just walks away.

Herman and Ritter have tracked the patient down from earlier; his name is Jeffrey. As they come into the room Jeffrey looks taken aback because he doesn’t know why they are there. They say they are there to check up on him. There is some small talk and Ritter works it in about his cologne. Jeffrey says he doesb5 wear cologne. Herman asks if it is a lotion. Jeffrey says some like that it is psoriasis cream. Herman offers one hundred bucks for the cream.

Stella has a conversation with Damon and she lets him know he needs to prove himself on the truck and maybe he can get to the squad. She lets him know she wants to build a great team and he is good, but not there yet fir squad. Damon says he is willing to work. Stella says she is glad to hear.

Monica visits Pascal at work, seeming extremely happy to see him. Pascal questions Monica about what happened earlier when he was at headquarters. He asked did she tell someone they were separated because she told no one. Monica admits when she first came back to Chicago she confided in a friend and it was the truth. Pascal says Vail. Monica tells him he needs to stop reading too much into it and not tear down what they are building back up. Monica leaves, but Pascal is clearly upset. Pascal approaches Mouch and asks where engine fifty one is. Mouch says that it was taken in a wellness check. Mouch ask if there is something wrong. Pascal says he wants to know where his rigs are at all times. Mouch says Boden didn’t care as long as they kept their radios on. Pascal gave him a death glare then walked away. Pascal then beats on the heavy bag a little and Mouch watches, thinking it’s strange. Pascal is angry and doesn’t know where to put that anger.

Cruz goes to talk to Kelly and Cruz says he needs to be honest with Kelly because he has been holding back. Cruz says that he has no issue with Damon, but something is going on with them and it feels like things are not right with fifty one. Cruz goes in to say he knows what it’s like to have a little brother that hit the short end of the stick. He knows how it feels to look out for them and not always make the right decisions because you feel you have to take care of them. He tells Kelly he knows how it feels to cross lines for someone that you wouldn’t fit anyone else. Cruz finishes off by saying you don’t want to do anything that you will regret. Kelly looks dumbfounded while Cruz walks away.

Kelly goes to Stella and comes clean about Damon. Understandably she is upset and she just walks away.

Mouch approaches Herman, not happy about his sincerity to take the captain's test.  They go back and forth. Herman is clear the conversation they had earlier resonated with him and he would not lie if it let him down again. Herman gets home and his wife is waiting for him just like she said. She lets him know the kids are out for a few hours and she compliments him on the scent and asks what it is exactly. Herman says it’s rare, but he tracked it down and made sure he had it for her. They continue upstairs.

We are with Violet and Novak and they are in a club and Novak is trying to hook Violet up. The guy that is there is really into her, but Violet says she wants to bail, it’s too soon for this. Novak asks if it is cool if she tries to get with him. Violet says yes. As she is leaving she opens her text messages to Carver. It’s clear she has texted him and he doesn’t respond. Violet contemplates sending him another text. She pauses the types out miss you then hits send.

We see Pascal approaching a home and knocking on the door. The gentleman that visited him in episode one appears. This is Vail. He asks why Pascal is there and Pascal says he did want to intrude. Vail asks what’s up. Pascal says you called my wife. Vail goes to respond and Pascal punches him hard in the stomach and lets him know to stay away from his wife.

Now we are in a bar and Damon approaches a table where Kelly is sitting with a beer waiting for him . Damon says you told her. Kelly says she is your lieutenant and she is my wife. Damon rolls his eyes and says I thought you would have my back in this. Kelly is clear that he did have his back. He lied for him and that’s not something he would do for anyone else. Damon wants to know what Stella said. Kelly said she is unhappy with both of them at the moment. Kelly asks him to take a seat because they need to talk. Damon pushes the beer away and says let’s get this lecture over with, say what you have to say so I can leave. Kelly says we can’t work in the same firehouse. One of us has to leave. Once that is said there is a stare off amongst the brothers and credit roll!!
