They start an IV and get to work. They show her as a flatline, but say they have to perform CPR. They work hard and ask the gentleman for room. Nothing seems to be working and they status it as a DOA.
The sister comes in asking for her sister. Violet says they tried but Bo thing could be done. The sister asks about the baby saying that her sister was eight months pregnant. Novak and Violet exchange looks. They check to see if the baby is still breathing. They find a heartbeat. They start CPR again to keep the blood flowing to the baby while they call for another ambulance to come get the baby. The closet is twelve minutes out and they are twenty minutes from the hospital. Violet keeps checking the heart rate and it is slowing down. The sister begs them to do a sea section and Novak says they can’t do that type of procedure. The sister begs and again says it’s just that simple. The entire time they are doing the CPR. Violet says quietly as to not alert the sister that she can do it, that she has scrubbed in on two sea sections. Novak says are you sure you can do this. Violet says she thinks she can. Violet says if this doesn’t work, Novak chimes in then we are screwed. Violet says to Novak that she should step away because she doesn’t want her to risk her career. Novak says no way, I’m here with you all the way. We are in this together Novak tells Violet. Violet preps the area and the patient. Violet talks to the sister and the sister says her name is Ivy. Violet talks through the entire procedure. Violet is able to get the baby free. The baby still has a pulse, it’s faint but there. Again, Violet and Novak work on the baby. Stella says she is still trying to find a replacement and has been on the phone with HR. She offers to find out for him. Kelly declines her offer and says if he wants his space he will give it to him. Stella asks Kelly if he has worked with a particular firefighter before. Kelly says I thought you had a replacement in mind. Stella says she is stopping by later, but if she turns me down she wants a solid back up. Kelly says that he thought this was her call. Stella says it is, but she still gets the feeling that if her decision is wrong she will be out. Kelly says that she has got this.

The rest of the team says it couldn’t hurt to check out the sites. They all start to look. Once Cruz sees that everyone is helping he starts to look as well.
Back at the hospital Violet and Novak are told that the mom suffered from amniotic fluid embolism. They ask if the father is on the way. The nurse says the father was never in the picture. Ivy is going to assume custody, the baby is perfectly healthy and can be discharged in two days. The nurse says it took real guts to do what they did, she doesn’t care what the doctor says you two are heroes in my book. Just then two people look to approach Novak and Violet. Violet tells Novak not to say a word and it’s an order. Violet greets Chief Robinson and she introduces Shawn Turner from the Illinois state medical board. Turner let's Violet know what she did was reckless and not in the scope of her work as a paramedic. Violet lets them know that Novak had nothing to do with anything and she followed procedure exactly. Chief Robinson says she will vouch for Violet because of her record and they will only investigate Violet and her actions. Turner informs Violet that her paramedic license is suspended upon further investigation. Chief Robinson tells Violet to go home. Violet looks stunned. Violet is back at the firehouse locker room clearing out her locker. Pascal comes in and talks to Violet, he lets her know he requested that she remain on desk duty at fifty one to soften the blow. Violet asks what he thinks will happen. Pascal says the medical board has nothing to do with what they do on a day to day basis and he is not sure. Violet says they are going to revoke her license. Pascal says she has been a paramedic for a long time and that she has to know someone in the public health world that could maybe stand up for her character. Pascal says they may be able to help more with the medical board. Pascal says the right advocate can force the board to see the optics of what they are doing to her.
In the common area the team is still striking out trying to find the bike, when Vargas finds the bike and says it was posted four hours ago. The ad says they are looking for one hundred and fifty bucks. Cruz looks at the picture and says that is his son's bike. Cruz is excited and asks what he should do next. They tell him to make an offer for three hundred that way they will not sell the bike. Cruz thinks about this and then says okay.
Violet goes to Goodwin at Gaffney hospital and discusses the case with her. Goodwin is very sympathetic towards Violet. Violet pleads her case and Goodwin says the medical board is made up of all MD’s and while she is a paramedic they went to school and are licensed in medicine. They really would not take kindly to a paramedic whether it was right or wrong performing a procedure that should only be done by someone that is medically trained. Violet looks bewildered and says so she has no options. Goodwin says not necessarily. Goodwin says she needs someone with some serious political power behind them. They will get the board's attention not to mention remind the board who it is exactly that they answer to.

Stella pushes again for Kelly to talk to Damon. Stella lets him know she has to go. Stella talks to the possible replacement for Damon. Stella can see that the girl doesn’t want to take the job. She explains that anyone would kill to be at fifty one, but she garnered the nickname MK which stands for Mini Kidd and she wants to stand on her own, not in the Stella Kidd shadow. Stella says she understands and tries to talk more, but a child trapped call comes in.
Fifty one is on the scene where a little girl seems to be tangled in power lines. The father says tge wind took her away. It’s possible she had a kite with her as yellow and red material is all in the lines as well. Stella takes charge immediately getting the team in the proper place for this rescue. There are sparks going off close to the little girl and her parents are freaking out. The ladders are engaged and extended. Stella climbs the ladder with Carver. Stella gently talks to the little girl and lets her know that the line she is holding onto has electricity in it. Stella tells her you will be fine as long as we don’t touch you and you don’t touch us. The little girl shakes her head yes. Carver and Stella go to work, as we hear the parents screaming just grab her already. Carver and Stella slowly and meticulously position Riley to be rescued all while sparks are flying. Stella tells Riley on the count of three she needs to let go of the wire. Riley is scared for good reason and after several tries she still has not let go. Stella tells Carver they have to do this now. The sparks are coming more frequently now. One last time Stella counts and says we will not let you fall, we got you. Finally Riley closes her eyes and lets go. Carver has her immediately. The parents below are relieved. They cut the kite from Riley and bring her down to her parents. They ask if she is okay. Stella says totally fine right Riley. The little girl says I’m okay mom. Riley dad Thanks Stella and Carver.

Stella says her first choice fell through and she is vetting new people and trying to make a good choice because she knows that they want the person to stick around. Pascal doesn’t seem fazed by this at all and says she has until the next shift. When Stella turns around she can see Herman looking at her. He gives a faint smile she does in return and then walks away.
Violet comes into the admin office at fifty one and puts her things at the desk. There is already a pile of work waiting for her. Novak comes in and says she was wondering if she would come in before they were off shift. Novak asks how it went with Goodwin. Violet goes over what she and Goodwin discussed. Violet doesn’t seem too optimistic about the situation because she doesn’t know any political heavy hitters, do you she asks Novak. Novak says you can’t just give up, you have to make a plan. She suggests they throw the CFD under the bus and blame it on horrible response times. Pascal comes in and says that might work. Pascal asks what happened. Violet relays what Goodwin said about needing a political force that would make them listen. Violet also says she doesn't know anyone like that. Pascal looks pensive and says to hang in there. Violet says maybe she should call her state senator. Novak is on board and says take it to the President if you have to.
Cruz and the team are at the bar hanging out. The guys are worried about the handle of the person selling the bike. They are worried he is big and scary. They tell him it’s just a bike and maybe he should let it go. Cruz says it’s not just a bike, it’s his son’s bike and he will be at the park tomorrow. Cruz also makes sure to ask them if they can go with him. Violet is in a somber mood, she says she called and emailed every politician she could think of in the state and all she got back was a form email, no real response. The team discusses how difficult their job is, and how the medical board would never know what they actually go through in the field. Mouch says it’s never a dull moment. Tori speaks up and says you guys have such an interesting job. She then proceeds to ask the team what’s the worst thing they have ever seen, while smiling. They all look at each other and everyone is quiet. Carver speaks up hesitantly and says I’ll tell you a funny story. Violet speaks up and says no she asks the worse thing. Violet proceeds and lets Tori have it. She tells her about two very horrific calls and it brings her to tears. Carver tells her to let up. Violet says no, she is an adult and she wants to hear this right Tori. Everyone looks down at the outbursts. Stella tries to comfort Violet, but she pulls back, then apologizes to everybody including Tori then leaves.
Pascal is at Vail’s office; it's clear he doesn’t want to be there. Vail is not friendly at all. Pascal apologizes and takes what Vail dishes out. Vail says he isn’t buying it and knows he wants something. Pascal is honest and says it’s not for him.
Kelly goes to the firehouse where Damon works looking for him. He is met by the lieutenant on duty. She says Damon is on a call right now. Kelly asks how he is doing. The chief says he is a good firefighter and seems to fit in. She goes on to say his lieutenant wanted to offer him a permanent position, but when he was asked why he left truck51 he was evasive so she suggested they put a pin in it until they got answers. Kelly speaks up and tells her about the changes in house fifty one. He explains the new chief and other things, always speaking highly of Damon. Kelly makes sure to point out if you give him a chance he can go from being a good firefighter to a great one.
At the park the team is spread out waiting for the bike thief. When a young boy approaches Cruz, he demands to see them ,only since he was offered three hundred dollars. Violet is defensive saying are you here to end me. Robinson says she is not and if it were up To her they would be reinstating her license. Robinson says she goes by the book, but also knows that on rare occasions a paramedic may have to do something out of protocol for a life saving situation and this situation is one of those. Robinson goes on to say morally and ethically she did the right thing. Violet takes her kind words in and says, so they are not going to rule on my side? Just the. The elevator doors open and there is Pascal, Vail, Ivy and the baby along with Alderman Molina. Molina shakes Violet's hand and says she is a hero, and it’s an honor to meet her. Molina says he spoke on her behalf in front of the medical board. He says he testified to her brave actions while on duty, and how his constituents in the twenty fifth ward along with Ivy and the baby are all in awe of her heroic actions. Violet goes to Ivy and she says the baby's name is Chrissy. Violet says she is perfect. Back at fifty one Novak is paving while Violet is at her desk motionless. Pascal comes in and lets Violet know the board has decided to dismiss the case and reinstate her license. Cruz brings his son in and shows him the bike. His son says that is not his bike. He says this bike is older, just then the young man who owned the bike comes in with his grandfather. The young boy shows him Cruz. The older man lets Cruz have it and tells them it’s not nice to steal from children. Cruz tries to explain and his son looks shocked and upset. The grandfather says that he better pay him what he promised and keep his word. The gut punch is when the grandfather says when I was young we used to look up to firefighters. They were role models in the community, now they are just thugs. Cruz asked if they would take Venmo to send the three hundred dollars.

Kelly says he wanted to prove to his dad he was just as good, while saying to himself that he wasn’t anything like Benny. He says it took a long time to understand that he would never be Benny, and that was a good thing. Damon says he is sorry that he called him Benny, Kelly cuts him off and says it’s okay, I know I’m not Benny and that’s why I talked to your chief. Kelly tells him not to try to live up to the name Severide. Just go out there and make a name for yourself.

The thing about friends is that they should be honest with each other. Carver agreed. Violet looks him deeply in his eyes and says take care of yourself, you deserve to be happy. Violet then walks away. Carver is sitting at the table watcher walking away looking astonished.
This episode was a lot! Hopefully now we will have peace at least between Damon and Kelly. Along with Pascal and Stella. Wishful thinking. The chemistry in the final shot of Violet and Carver was intense. More if this please. See ya next week.
