Criminal Record Gets A Sophomore Season at Apple TV+

It’s great news for fans of Criminal Record: the crime thriller is officially returning for Season 2 on Apple TV+. Cush Jumbo, who stars in the series, hinted at the renewal earlier this year, but it wasn’t confirmed until now.

The show stars Jumbo and Peter Capaldi as detectives with contrasting approaches and motivations. Season 1 involved a tense investigation into an old murder case, driven by an anonymous tip. The cast also included Aysha Kala, Shaun Dooley, Tom Moutchi, Charlie Creed-Miles, Dionne Brown, Zoë Wanamaker, Cathy Tyson, and Stephen Campbell Moore.

With its intriguing premise and strong performances, Season 2 will likely continue to explore complex cases and character dynamics. Fans can look forward to seeing where the next season takes the story and how the detectives' personal and professional lives will evolve.

Season 2 of Criminal Record sounds intense and politically charged. The new storyline sees June Lenker (Cush Jumbo) in a high-stakes situation after a political rally is violently attacked by far-right counter-protestors, resulting in the death of a young man. Consumed by guilt and driven to find the killer, June turns to Daniel Hegarty (Peter Capaldi), who has become a significant figure in the clandestine world of police intelligence. However, securing his assistance requires June to navigate a dangerous and morally complex bargain.

The upcoming season promises to delve into themes of political unrest and personal accountability, with June and Daniel's dynamic likely to play a central role. Although the first season wrapped earlier this year, the exact return date for Season 2 has not been announced yet. With eight episodes on the way, fans can expect a gripping continuation of the series' compelling narrative.
