Dave Coulier Opens Up About Stage 3 Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Diagnosis

Full House star Dave Coulier has opened up about his recent health battle, revealing that he has been diagnosed with Stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The actor and comedian shared the news on Wednesday, explaining that the diagnosis came after a routine check-up following an upper respiratory infection.

In an interview with People, Coulier described how he initially sought medical attention for swelling in his lymph nodes. “I had a little bit of a head cold, and then it went into something much bigger,” he said. His doctor recommended further tests, including PET and CT scans, along with a biopsy. Just days later, Coulier received the life-changing news.

“Three days later, my doctors called and said, ‘We wish we had better news for you, but you have non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It’s called B cell, and it’s very aggressive,’” Coulier recalled. “I went from thinking I had just a cold to hearing I have cancer. It was pretty overwhelming. This has been a really fast rollercoaster ride.”

Despite the shocking diagnosis, Coulier found some hope in the news. His bone marrow test came back negative, significantly improving his prognosis. “At that point, my chances of curability went from something low to 90%, and that was a great day,” he shared.

Coulier has already begun treatment, completing his first round of chemotherapy. As part of his journey, he made the decision to shave his head, calling it a “preemptive strike.”

In an emotional moment during the Full House Rewind podcast, which he co-hosts with former Full House co-star Marla Sokoloff, Coulier spoke candidly about his diagnosis while wearing a hat. “I guess I look a little like Mr. Woodchuck now,” he joked. “But it kind of looks military, and it’s appropriate because this is my own personal battle.”

“I’ve always been a man of many hats,” Coulier continued. “But this hat has special significance. I want people to know it’s my life, and I’m not going to hide anything. I’d rather talk about it, open the discussion, and hopefully inspire others.”

Coulier’s openness and strength in the face of his diagnosis are a testament to his resilient spirit. Fans and loved ones continue to send their support as he faces this challenging journey head-on.
