Days of Our Lives Daily Recap 12/16

At Philip’s Hotel Room

Philip is getting ready when his mother, Kate, knocks on the door. He informs her that his lawyer quit last minute, but he managed to secure a new one. Philip asks Kate to testify on his behalf, but she expresses concerns. She warns him that the forged letter might be brought up and says she doesn’t trust Vivian to keep quiet about it. Kate wants Philip to be prepared for anything but ultimately declines to testify, stating she doesn’t want to commit perjury but reaffirms her love for her son. Kate then leaves.

At the Black Household

Brady arrives and hands Belle her divorce papers from Shawn. Belle assumes Shawn has left town to visit his father. She then tells Brady that she’s defending Philip against Xander over their birthright and asks him to testify in Philip’s favor. However,

Brady refuses, explaining that he’s forgiven Xander and doesn’t want to get involved since Philip has wronged him in the past as well. Belle threatens to subpoena him, but Brady counters, saying there’s no concrete evidence of Xander’s actions and advises her to find another way to win the case.

At Brady Pub

Shawn meets his uncle Roman and shares the news that he’s staying in town and rejoining the police force. Roman is thrilled and welcomes him back. Shawn also reveals that he and Belle are divorcing, assuming she’s left town. Roman sympathizes with Shawn’s situation, but Shawn reassures him that he’s okay, as he and Belle simply grew apart.

Later, Kate arrives at the pub and chats with Roman about Belle defending Philip. She also learns that Shawn is staying in Salem. Both realize that Belle and Shawn mistakenly think the other has left town. Their conversation is interrupted when Roman receives a call from Statesville Prison—it’s Vivian. Kate grabs the phone, pretends to hang up, and creates a distraction to speak to Vivian privately. Sternly, she warns Vivian not to say a word about the letter.

At the Kiriakis Mansion

Justin is preparing for the case when he chats with Maggie, asking her to testify on Xander’s behalf. Meanwhile, Sarah and Xander are in bed, discussing the upcoming trial. Xander expresses concern about losing if the judge sides with Philip. Maggie hesitates to testify, but Justin stresses the importance of having a character witness to vouch for Xander’s intent.

Sarah supports and encourages Xander, reminding him of his growth despite his past mistakes. Maggie, however, feels conflicted, noting that Victor loved both Philip and Xander, but the letter complicates things. She ultimately decides not to testify. While the family discusses the case, Sarah walks in without her cane, delighting everyone with her progress.

At Horton Town Square

Belle and Shawn run into each other and discuss the trial. Belle asks Shawn to testify for Philip.

At Court

Justin, Sarah, and Xander arrive for the trial. Justin and Sarah leave to get coffee, while Philip arrives and exchanges tense words with Xander. After Xander steps out, Belle informs Philip that both Kate and Brady declined to testify. Philip tries to think of other witnesses who know Xander threatened Brady.

As the trial begins, Shawn testifies for Philip. Justin attempts to introduce a letter of support from Alexander, but the judge denies it. Justin then calls Sarah to the stand. She recounts events involving Victor, Philip, and Xander. During cross-examination, Belle brings up how Xander once attempted to kill Brady, further complicating his case.

Back at the Black Household

Maggie visits Brady to invite him to a meeting. They discuss their mutual reluctance to testify for either Philip or Xander. Brady reflects on how believing he hit Sarah led him to regain his sobriety. Maggie thanks him for convincing Kristen to provide the serum that helped Sarah recover, expressing her gratitude for Sarah’s improved health.
