Days of Our Lives Daily Recap 12/18

At the Horton Home:

Chad visits Jack and Jennifer, who are delighted to see him. When they ask about JJ, Chad explains that JJ is taking Gabi home. They then discuss Abigail’s remains. Chad initially wants to wait for JJ but ends up sharing the news: Clyde is in a coma, and if he doesn’t wake up, they may never uncover the truth about Abigail’s remains. Chad apologizes for letting them down, but Jack and Jennifer reassure him it’s not his fault. They cherish their fond memories of Abigail. Jennifer takes solace in knowing Abigail is at peace with loved ones they’ve lost. She brings out a family memory capsule and suggests they add Abigail’s mementos. The family gathers items, and Jack texts JJ to let him know.

At the Hernandez Home:

JJ ensures Gabi gets home safely and thanks her for her help. Gabi admits her actions against Clyde weren’t entirely selfless due to her personal agenda. She wishes Clyde were dead, and JJ surprisingly agrees but regrets that they didn’t get answers from him first. Gabi apologizes for her insensitivity about Abigail’s remains, and JJ understands since they both despise Clyde. They bond over the loss of their sisters, with JJ expressing guilt for failing his parents. After a moment of lingering connection, JJ decides to head to his family. They flirt briefly before JJ mentions he’s considering staying in Salem for the holidays. When Gabi asks about his company, he explains that Theo and Claire are handling it. He invites Gabi for drinks or dinner, and she accepts. After he leaves, Gabi reflects on her time with JJ in Canada.

At Horton Town Square:

Cat is working to secure a lawyer for her mother when Aaron approaches. Though struggling with Cat’s changed appearance, he is overjoyed she’s alive. They discuss their mother’s legal defense, with Cat explaining the difficulty of arguing self-defense since the guns were already drawn when their mother shot Clyde. Cat warns Aaron about their mother’s mental state if she’s released. Felicity soon arrives and, unsure if Cat is really her sister, questions her identity. Cat explains her appearance and apologizes for previously claiming to be Abigail. Felicity finally believes her after recalling a shared memory, and they embrace. When Felicity learns their mother is alive, they discuss visiting her. Mark then joins, sharing that he’s agreed to serve 18 months in prison. Though Aaron had hoped the charges would be dropped, Mark feels lucky to get the deal. Before heading to prison, Mark asks for updates about their mother.

At the Police Station:

EJ offers Mark a plea deal of 10 years in prison in exchange for pleading guilty. Mark insists he was  being blackmailed by Clyde, but EJ reminds him that’s why the sentence is reduced. Mark accuses EJ of personal motives, which EJ admits, referencing his brother’s attempted murder. Mark worries about his siblings, but EJ warns he’ll face a harsher sentence if he refuses the deal. As Mark prepares to sign, Belle arrives, declaring herself his lawyer. She explains that Tate asked her to take the case. Belle argues that Mark acted under distress and questions Salem’s jurisdiction in international cases. She accuses EJ of using the DA’s office for revenge. Belle tries to negotiate for time served and community service. Soon they do reach a deal. EJ congratulates her but reminds her of their agreement if Mark does anything wrong. Belle corrects him, noting she’s now Belle Black after her divorce from Shawn.

At Abigail’s Gravesite:

Jennifer tells JJ she contacted Aunt Marie, Julie, and Hope, who agreed to use their grandmother’s memory capsule. JJ arrives with a memento and thinks the idea is wonderful. The family gathers to honor Abigail, filling the capsule with keepsakes before placing it at her gravesite.
