The episode begins with Lucas, Jennifer, Ciara, and Marie realizing Alice’s diamond necklace is missing. They wonder who could have taken it, but Lucas suggests the thief might not have needed to break in.
As Steven reflects on his life and insists he’s no longer involved in jewel theft, Leo comments on the conversation. Steven shares his regret over his criminal past and stresses to Leo that he’s worked hard to turn his life around. Leo listens with interest, and the two start to bond.
Shawn visits Belle at her parents’ house. Belle explains that Claire got sick and couldn’t come. She worries if she overstepped by coming herself, but Shawn reassures her she did not. Meanwhile, Julie is at Doug’s gravesite when a man claiming to be Doug Williams approaches. Julie is confused because she’s at Doug’s headstone. The man explains he is Doug’s grandson, Douglas LeClaire. Overwhelmed, Julie hugs him as she realizes the connection.
Back at the house, Ciara questions whether Steven could have taken the necklace, but Marie brings up his history with jewel theft. Ciara and Lucas decide to find him and question him about the missing necklace. After they leave, Jennifer and Marie discuss Steven. Jennifer believes Lucas is jumping to conclusions, but Marie points out his past. Their conversation highlights their differing views on whether Steven has truly changed.
Elsewhere, Steven continues to confide in Leo, explaining that he had to leave Salem because of his criminal history and his efforts to change his life. Back at Belle’s parents’ house, Shawn admits he’s realized through therapy that he may no longer be the same person he once was. He suggests that perhaps it’s time for their marriage to end. Belle, though saddened, agrees and offers to draw up divorce papers. They affirm their love for each other but decide it’s best to move on. They hug before Shawn leaves.
Julie brings Doug’s grandson to her home and shares family memories, including stories about a time capsule containing Alice’s necklace. Meanwhile, Jennifer leaves to take Marie to the airport. Lucas confronts Steven about the missing necklace, accusing him of stealing it. Steven is shocked and adamantly denies the accusation. Lucas persists, but Steven refuses to engage further and leaves.
Later, Ciara confronts Leo about the necklace. Leo defends Steven, pointing out that Lucas and Ciara’s own pasts are far from perfect. That night, Steven sneaks in through a window to say goodbye to Julie. He insists he’s a work in progress but has changed. Julie feels abandoned, but Steven promises to return and asks her not to believe the rumors about him.
As the episode ends, Doug’s grandson is seen looking through family photos. In a shocking twist, it’s revealed that he is the one who stole Alice’s diamond necklace.
