Episode 6 of Doc delivers another emotional rollercoaster that leaves you invested in every character’s journey. The medical case at the heart of this episode—Amy and Jake working together to solve the mystery of a patient who can’t feel pain—is fascinating. The patient’s inability to properly convey symptoms due to her rare condition creates a unique challenge, and the way Amy and Jake approach it together highlights their dynamic. These two are electric on screen, and their chemistry is undeniable, making every scene together engaging and heartfelt. You can't help but root for them.
Meanwhile, the personal drama involving Amy, her daughter Katie, and Michael takes center stage. Katie’s desire to move back in with Amy is a huge emotional moment, especially as she expresses her longing for the “old” Amy—someone she felt was more present before the demands of work took over. Amy’s struggles between balancing her professional life and her relationship with her daughter are very real, and it’s easy to understand Michael’s concerns about history repeating itself. He’s clearly scared of Katie getting hurt again, and the tension between him and Amy feels incredibly raw. The looming question of whether Amy will get too busy again once she (potentially) becomes chief makes this conflict even more relatable.
The drama between Michael and his new wife adds an interesting layer of complexity. Michael's frustration with Katie and Amy bonding again spills over into his relationship with his wife, leading to a tense moment where his wife calls him out on his own emotional baggage, particularly his attachment to his late son’s room. The emotional weight here is palpable, and it's about time Michael confronts some of the unresolved issues in his life. The scene is an important turning point for his character, and it’s rewarding to see him agree to let Katie move back in with Amy, despite his reservations.
Gina and TJ’s storyline is a welcome addition to the episode, bringing some lighter moments. The hypochondriac patient they deal with is a bit of comic relief, but it’s gratifying to see Gina step up as a doctor, not just someone in Amy’s orbit. Her reconciliation with Amy is a heartwarming reminder of the importance of strong friendships. And seeing Richard join Amy and Jake's case and act salty when Amy proves herself right is both funny and infuriating. Richard is definitely shaping up to be the villain of the series in my eyes—his constant antagonism toward Amy is hard to overlook.
But the real kicker of the episode is the moment Amy realizes that she and Jake have something more than just a professional relationship. When Amy shows up at Jake’s place and they share a kiss, it’s electric and tender at the same time. The chemistry between these two has been building, and this kiss finally acknowledges the tension that’s been simmering between them. I’m officially rooting for them, and I’m excited to see where this relationship goes.

Once More, with Feeling is another standout episode of Doc. It’s a brilliant mix of emotional depth, medical mystery, and relationship drama, with fantastic performances from the entire cast. The episode leaves you craving more and excited for what comes next—especially in the evolving dynamic between Amy and Jake. Another solid chapter in what’s becoming a must-watch season.
