Drew Starkey to Reunite with A24 for New Action-Thriller Onslaught

Following the buzz around his role in Queer, A24's upcoming queer romantic drama alongside Daniel Craig, Drew Starkey is set to continue his collaboration with the studio in Onslaught, a new action-thriller directed by Adam Wingard. The film is being produced by A24, Lyrical Media, and Ryder Picture Company.

Starkey will join an impressive cast, including Adria Arjona, Dan Stevens, and UFC Champion Alex "Poatan" Pereira, who is currently in negotiations. While details about Starkey's character and the film’s plot are still under wraps, sources suggest that Onslaught follows in the vein of Wingard’s cult hits like The Guest and You’re Next. The script is once again penned by Simon Barrett, who previously worked with Wingard on those films.

The film will be produced by Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett under Ryder Picture Company, alongside A24, and Alexander Black for Lyrical Media. Wingard and Jeremy Platt will also produce under their new company, Breakaway Civilization. Jon Rosenberg and Natalie Sellers of Lyrical Media, as well as A24, will serve as executive producers.

Onslaught will be co-financed by Lyrical Media and A24, with A24 handling worldwide distribution. Production is slated to begin this month.

Meanwhile, Starkey continues to build momentum with his role as Eugene Allerton, the romantic interest of Daniel Craig’s character William Lee, in A24’s Queer. The film, an adaptation of William S. Burroughs' semi-autobiographical novel, premiered to strong reviews at the Venice Film Festival and will have a limited theatrical release on November 27. The attention around Queer has placed Starkey in high demand for future projects.

Starkey first gained widespread recognition for his breakout role as Rafe Cameron in Netflix’s hit teen drama Outer Banks, which recently debuted its fourth season and will conclude with its fifth. He is represented by Gersh, and the talent agency Goodman, Genow, Schenkman.
