Found Season 2 Episode 1 "Missing While Bait" Review: Hello Gabrielle

The highly anticipated season two return of Found launched right where it left off with viewers - with bated breath.  [SPOILERS] The show opens with Gabi fervently calling her team after realizing Sir escaped her basement. Gabi is able to get a hold of Dhan and stops him from eating or drinking anything due to fear of rat poisoning by Sir. The hunt begins as they both eagerly start searching for Margaret, Lacey and Zeke.

Gabi races to Lacey’s home while Dhan search for Margaret and Zeke. Furious with Gabi and the secret she kept, Margaret ignores her call but picks up for Dhan right before she eats her sandwich at the bus stop. Unfortunately, Zeke was not so lucky and Dhan finds him on the floor at his home with a take-out bag near by. Is he dead or alive?

As Zeke is raced to the hospital, we find Gabi in Lacey’s home which was completely destroyed and blood on the wall. WWE has nothing on what took place in this apartment. But it leaves us to wonder, where is Lacey?

I knew Sir wouldn’t stay in the basement for the entire run of the series, but I did not anticipate a kidnapping that would catapult the expansion of the core cast members on the show.

We begin with Lacey’s back story. Flashing back to three months after being rescued, we see Lacey (Bella) as a little girl who doesn’t speak. Her mother, Gina, tries to not only comfort her daughter but to also learn who this new little girl is. Bella is haunted daily from her experience with Sir. Is it real or all in her mind?

Back to present day, everyone is at the hospital waiting for an update on Zeke. Gabi is convinced that Lacey is dead. And it’s all her fault. The air is stifled with anger, remorse and confusion between Dhan, Margaret and Gabi. A surprising voice of reason enters with Mr. Wallace, Zeke’s father. Consoling, soothing, and encouraging he tells them they have to find Lacey. He knows how important Lacey is to Zeke and the group. So far, I’m enjoying the addition of Mr. Wallace and I hope he stays for future episodes.

So where is Sir? Maybe getting a mani-pedi at the Peninsula Hotel? We find him in hideaway as he does a little manicuring to his hair and beard. The “Sir” Gabi and Bella knew as captives reappears in the mirror, and he is ready to teach his prize pupil a lesson.

Margaret surveys Lacey’s home, absorbing all that is around her. As she tries to tap into her keen senses, her rage encompasses her. She is furious with what Gabi has done. The secret she has been keeping. The lies she has been telling the team. It’s too much.

She wants to know what Gabi knows. She wants everything. The deeper level of her connection with Sir. As a viewer, I wonder the same thing.

Margaret’s fury doesn’t just land on Gabi, she brings heat for Dhan too. The level of betrayal has Margaret grasping for firm ground. Dhan shares that he did help catch Sir, but thought he was dead. He did not know Gabi was holding him captive.

Eager to help find Lacey, Trent, the man who almost lost his job for Gabi, also leans the truth. Stunned, he thinks back to the night they were together at Gabi’s home and feels like a fool, manipulated and hurt. Trent tells Gabi she “should call a lawyer”, but she is able to get a reprieve with 72 hours to find Lacey.

The race against the clock to connect with Sir begins with a press conference. Gabi speaks Sirs’ language through Platos Symposium during the conference to lure him out. The police and team receives a lead that takes them to a stolen car. Is Lacey inside? “Not yet” is the message Sir leaves, along with the book of Native Son – another chess piece to the cat and mouse game.

We return to the hospital where we see Zeke having what seems like a panic attack. Mr. Wallace is there, conflicted on what to do as the team tries to calm Zeke down. Seeing Gabi exasperates Zeke more and it crushes her that she has brought so much pain to her friends. Dhan and Margaret shares that Zeke has Agoraphobe and needs to go home. Mr. Wallace who is afraid, listens to them and heads their advice against the doctor. A nice reminder that this is a family and everyone wants the best for Zeke.

Feeling alone and guilty, Gabi returns to the office where Lacey’s mom also arrives. Another soothing, reassuring voice to help everyone anchor on what is important - finding Lacey. Why was everyone targeted but Dhan? Dhan suggests checking Ethan’s credit cards and they get potential lead on rentals. At one of the properties, it looks like they just missed Sir. Trent turns on the hot water in the bathroom for potential clues (smart detective) and they see a code or message on the mirror. It looks like O.K. Is it another message from Sir?

Back at the office, feeling defeated, Gabi learns that Gina knows the truth of what she did! She said Lacey called her the night before. Most importantly, they are reminded that Lacey is a fighter. The O.K. was not from Sir. It was from Lacey sending a message to Gabi from their childhood.

Tied to a chair, beaten up but very much alert, we see a fearless and determined Lacey. And she knows how to toy with Sir who shares his utmost goal - Gabrielle. We also learn that Lacey is the key to Gabi, always has been. Can she use this to secure her freedom?

Thinking like Sir, Gabi sifts through the book Native Son, locating clues that unravels a number. Is it coordinates? A phone number? The number leads her to a pay phone where our prey and predator finally connects. Buckle up everyone. Sir is officially on the run. And he is heading straight for Gabi.
