Garth Brooks Sued Amid Allegations of Rape
In a lawsuit filed on Thursday in Los Angeles, a long-time makeup artist and stylist for Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks has accused Brooks of brutally sexually assaulting her on several occasions in a very detailed manner.
“Brooks seized what he saw as an opportunity to subject a female employee to a side of Brooks that he conceals from the public,” then suit seeking a jury trial says of Jane Roe once the country superstar started hiring her more in 2019. “This side of Brooks believes he is entitled to sexual gratification when he wants it, and using a female employee to get it, is fair game.”
The filing describes instances of repeated "painful and traumatic" rape, battery, and other assaults, surpassing what could be considered acceptable, providing a detailed account including actions by the renowned "Thunder Road" singer that are too scandalous to elaborate on here.
Seeking unspecified damages, the complaint with six claims from Jane Roe emerges as Brooks, identified as John Doe, recently sought legal intervention in federal court in Mississippi to halt the alleged “fabricated lawsuit.” He argued that if Jane Roe’s accusations became public knowledge, it would severely damage his reputation and livelihood.
It appears that line has now been crossed, as Jane Roe, represented by Wigdor Law, retaliates against the Brooks lawsuit in her own legal action.
“Brooks’ Abusive Mississippi Action is a clear effort to further dominate and intimidate his sexual assault victim by leveraging his vast resources to manipulate the legal system,” states Jane Roe’s complaint about the singer’s legal maneuver “while feigning discussions with Ms. Roe to settle her legal grievances against him.”
Jane Roe’s filing continues: “Brooks is determined to shield his millions of followers from discovering the appalling things he has said and done to a young female employee who did not deserve such mistreatment. However, our legal system is not designed to allow affluent wrongdoers to circumvent accountability when faced by sexual assault victims seeking justice.”
Brooks' representatives have not responded to requests for comment on the sexual assault allegations. Should they do so, this post will be revised accordingly.
Jane Roe’s attorneys did provide a statement beyond the scope of their client’s detailed complaint.
“We applaud our client’s courage in moving forward with her complaint against Garth Brooks,” lawyers Douglas H. Wigdor, Jeanne M. Christensen and Hayley Baker said in a joint statement as Jane Roe’s complaint was being filed today.
“The complaint filed today demonstrates that sexual predators exist not only in corporate America, Hollywood and in the rap and rock and roll industries but also in the world of country music,” the trio said. “We are confident that Brooks will be held accountable for his actions and his efforts to silence our client through the filing of a preemptive complaint in Mississippi was nothing other than an act of desperation and attempted intimidation. We encourage others who may have been victimized to contact us as no survivor should suffer in silence.”
Story developing.
