Gavin Creel, a highly esteemed and beloved leading figure in Broadway, passed away in Manhattan today at the age of 48 after a brief battle with a rare and aggressive sarcoma, just two months following his diagnosis.
His partner, Alex Temple Ward, confirmed his passing. Creel had been receiving treatment at New York’s Memorial Sloan Kettering hospital since his cancer diagnosis in July.
He was such a talented performer and brought so much joy to the stage. His roles in "Thoroughly Modern Millie," "Hair," and "Hello, Dolly!" showcased his incredible range and charisma. It’s heartbreaking to lose someone who contributed so much to the theater community.
His roles in La Cage aux Folles, She Loves Me, Waitress, and Into the Woods highlight his talent and ability to connect with audiences. Beyond the stage, his appearances in American Horror Story and Central Park demonstrated his range in television as well. He will be remembered not just for his performances, but also for the impact he had on the theater community. It’s a significant loss for everyone who admired his work.
Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this difficult time.
