General Hospital Daily Recap 11/18

A tragic and wholly unexpected event, Samantha “Sam” McCall’s Funeral.  The grief, hurt and shock at the loss is everywhere. Maxie finishes funeral preparations for her dear friend at the Port Charles Church.  She stands talking to Sam’s portrait displayed near the pulpit.  Maxie’s trying to deal with the loss by discussing the flower arrangements, and their shared memories.

Lucas overhears her when entering the church.  He’s doubting himself and filled with guilt after Sam’s death. He’s second-guessing every action he took when he performed her surgery, and thinks he made a mistake.  Maxie refuses to hear Lucas blame himself and assures him that Sam trusted and believed in him.  That’s why she asked him to do her liver transplant surgery.  She had every confidence in him and would never have it any other way.  Maxie’s words seemed to help.

Kai Taylor shows up at Trina and Joss’ apartment.  Joss opens the door without thinking.  Trina walks into the room and slams the door in his face as he tries to ask for another chance to be her art project partner.  Trina and Joss discuss reasons not to answer the door without checking, while Kai knocks again letting them know he’s still there.  Joss convinces Trina to talk to him.  Joss leaves for Sam’s funeral.  She whispers that to Kai that he owes her and wishes him luck, as she leaves.

Aiden surprises his Mom at GH, and volunteers to drive her home, while also practicing driving.  She talks to him about the possibility of his Dad, Lucky, leaving, again.  Aiden said he expected it.  Liz loves his maturity and belief in his Dad.  He’s proud of his Dad’s ability to go out and help other people.  Aiden tells Liz they’ll be fine because they have each other.  Their love and strength come from Liz.

Alexis is visibly distraught getting ready to bury her oldest daughter.  She doesn’t want to bury Sam.  Kristina compares this to the death of Baby Irene/Adella.  Molly comes in the room hearing this.  She lovingly helps Alexis put on a bracelet she made from the broken necklace Sam gave her.

Scout, Danny and Rocko see Drew  in the Quartermaine house and asks what happened to his face.  They are upset and ask if he needs medical assistance.  Drew assures them he’s fine.  He makes up a story about running into a door in the kitchen.  Scout is worried about losing him and thinks he won’t keep his promise and leave like her Mom did.  Drew talks to Scout and assures her that her Mom didn’t want to leave her.  He touchingly reaffirms he will keep his promise and never leave her.  Scout shows her Dad the flowers she picked for her Mom’s funeral.

Rocko and Danny talk about Drew’s injuries, and don’t believe his excuse.  Danny thinks it’s a coverup for a fight.  They both agree it doesn’t matter, and all that matters is being big brothers for Scout.  Rocko and Danny agree they are brothers no matter what happens.  Danny takes off to place the flowers and Scout’s picture she drew on Sam’s casket.

Jack Brennan, WSB Station Chief at Port Charles, walks over to Lucky’s table at Bobbie’s and reintroduces himself as ‘the man who saved his life’ and offers to buy him coffee.  He tells him he assisted in his extraction from Somalia Africa.  Lucky offers to buy him coffee and a doughnut for saving his life.  They have a conversation and He’s on the brink of becoming a spy, if he accepts Brennan’s job offer to return to Africa and help with refugees.  Another part of the mission involved getting  intel on a new political group that could be on the rise.   Of course, Lucky would have to leave in 24 hours.

Dante’s in the Quartermaine’s kitchen looking through photos for a family album he created.  Cody tries to help him as he offers some words of solace to ease his grief, but it’s too soon.  Dante, Cody and  Olivia later share fond memories of Sam.  It helped Dante smile until Cody mentioned there was no challenge Sam didn’t overcome.  Dante said there was one thing, and the grief overwhelmed him.  Dante rushed out of the kitchen.  After returning, he and Cody finished looking through family photos and selected one of Sam they agree was perfect to place on the cover.

Rick is standing outside Alexis’ house when Molly rushes out.  He gives her a much-needed hug, and a birthday gift to her favorite play, “12 Angry Men”.  He asks if he could take her, and she accepts.

Kristina talks to Alexis about her conversation with Molly on her birthday and mentions Adela to Molly.   Alexis is reminded she also forgot Molly’s birthday.

TJ arrives and talks with Molly and Rick outside Alexis’ house.  Alexis comes out and apologizes to Molly for forgetting her birthday. Molly goes inside to contact the minister about the funeral, and TJ quickly follows.

After they’re gone, Alexis tells Rick he’s not welcome at her home and asks him to leave.  Rick angrily  reminds her she’s forgotten their daughter’s birthday and makes her a low priority.  He leaves but not before telling her that her youngest daughter is still alive.

Meanwhile, TJ apologizes to Molly for forgetting her birthday and tells her she can always depend on him.  Molly tearfully expresses to  him how much she loves him and is glad he is there supporting her.  This eases his mind filled with worries.  Molly is working her way through her own worries and grief, and shows it by giving a hug to Kristina, who interrupts her time with TJ.

Kai pleads his case to remain Trina’s art  project partner. Him admitting he took art because it’s easy didn’t help him.  He apologizes.  He shows off his amazing superpower, total memory recall.  He rattles off different textures and artistic styles to show Trina he means what he says and will give his ALL to learn. He never gives up.  He’s not an art nerd like her, but really wants to learn.  Kai asked Trina to think of him as a random guy who just walked into the art gallery where she worked, and didn’t know anything about art.  He's adamant about learning about art history.  Football’s not Trina’s thing, but Kai asks her to give it and him a chance.  Trina’s resistance weakens, as she slightly smiles despite her determination to drop her partner for a new one.

Liz enters Bobbie’s to pick up cookies for the reception after the funeral and sees Lucky.  He tells her about his meeting with Jack Brennan.  He seems happier than he was when deliberating over leaving or staying in Port Charles.  Will he accept Brennan’s offer?

Drew asks Nina for help hiding the bruises and cut on his face, after the fight with Jason.  She adds makeup to cover up the damage.  She asked if he would press charges on Jason, but Drew says no, out of deference to Sam.  Sam asked both Drew and Jason to be there for their children, and he was keeping that promise.  Drew doesn’t tell Nina about sleeping with Willow, when she asked why Jason beat him so badly. His lies continue. He just needed to get through the day.  What they don’t see is Rocko standing in the hall, and he overhears Nina saying no one will know Jason was the real reason for his injuries.

Danny’s at the church and lays pink roses and a picture Scout made of the three of them, Scout, Danny and Rocko, on his mother’s casket.  Stepping away he sees Lucas enter the church and yells at him to leave because he sees him as the one who let his Mom die.  Lucas tries to say something but leaves in the face of Danny’s anger.

Alexis draws her two daughters close in a loving hug, and tells them it’s time to say goodbye to Sam.
