Dex and Kai meet in Volonino’s Gym, Sonny’s Gym. Dex walks up to him and introduces himself. He eagerly shakes Kai’s hand. Dex is kinda acting like a big Kai superfan. Kai asks if he’s a football fan. Dex tells him it’s nice to meet the man and future legend. He says they have a friend in common. Kai asks if it is another football player on the team. Dex says, it’s Trina Robinson. Kai exhales and looks a little disappointed. Trina and Joss are at Bobbie’s munching on fries. Trina’s a little distracted and Joss comments that they were supposed to be sharing the fries, but Trina’s not eating any. Trina apologizes because she’s thinking about Kai. Joss smiles knowingly and is interested. Trina says he’s supposed to be there by now. She is annoyed at him being late. She’s not sure she should have changed her mind about continuing to work with him on her project. Joss says there’s not much Kai could have done, since it was too late for him to drop the class. Trina gets more upset and states the school would do anything to accommodate him. That’s why in her opinion he’s such a ‘flake’. Joss tells Trina if she goes back on her word, then she’ll be the ‘flake’. She says he’s not even late yet. Trina now states it would be best if she did the work herself, then she wouldn’t be wasting time waiting for him and explaining everything to him. She’s really getting angry. Joss attempts to calm Trina and interjects some reality by telling her she’s now just looking for a reason not to work with Kai.
Jordan walks over to the GH nurse’s station where her son, TJ, is standing updating his patient files. She’s carrying a large bag of food. She says he’s just the man she was looking to find. TJ jokingly asks if she needed someone to carry that bag for her. She says no, but she could use someone to help her eat it. She hoped he had a break coming up. TJ says her timing was right on, because he was just about to go to the cafeteria for dinner. But, if she didn’t mind the breakroom ambiance, he’d be happy to help her put a dent in the dinner she brought. Jordan looks happily at her son and says she didn’t come there for the ambiance, she came for the company.
Michael enters the Quartermaine kitchen as Sasha is rolling out some dough on the kitchen counter. She asks if there was anything she could help him with. He says he’s just looking for a snack. He didn’t’ want to interrupt her because she seemed busy. She said she was just rolling out dough for some cinnamon rolls. He nonchalantly asks why she didn’t bake like that when they were dating. She avoids answering that and said she’s happy to make him some leftovers and asked what he was in the mood for. He sat down and said surprise me. She thought about it, then mentioned she hadn’t seen him at dinner.
Michael said there’s been a lot going on. He still couldn’t believe Sam was gone. Sasha apologized that she missed the funeral. She said she had something she couldn’t get out of. Michael said he heard and asked if she was okay. Sasha said she didn’t really want to talk about it (she was kidnapped). He agreed to let it go. He abruptly got up to leave and said forget about the snack because he wasn’t hungry and was going to go. Sasha saw he seemed anxious and asked why he was there.
Michael turned around and looked like he wanted to say something but was trying not to say it. Sasha knew her friend and pressed him for more information, asking if something was going on. He blurted out that he was there because he can’t go home.
Sonny and Kristina were at Sonny’s Restaurant, Pozzulo’s, for dinner. He brought out his delicious family favorite pasta dish, Cacio e Pepe. Kristina’s very appreciative, says he’d been working hard and asked if she could help with anything. Sonny told her she could just sit back and be spoiled by her Dad. He pours them some wine and sits down. She said Thanks and that sounded so great. He asked why she was so restless. She said she was worried about the trial. He said she will be amazing.
Kristina counters and asks what if she’s not and messes up on the stand. What if she ruins their only chance to make Ava pay for what she did. Sonny assures her that she’s faced tough situations before, and she will hit it out of the park. Kristina says it’s her they are talking about and asks again what if she doesn’t.
Chase pushes open an already partially opened apartment door to Dante’s place. He pulls his gun and enters. Chase asks if anyone is home, and calls Dante’s name. A shocked Dante comes down the stairs with two bags in each and asks Chase what he was doing. Chase apologizes and says he called out, but no one answered. Dante said it was his fault the door was open. He asks Chase why he came by. Chase says he stopped by to see if he needed anything. He asks Dante if he was taking a trip. Dante said he was getting things together to take to the Quartermaine’s house. Chase accepted that answer and asked if Dante would ever come back to their family apartment. Dante said if it was up to him, he would never leave because it’s the last place his whole family was all together.
Alexis goes to Drew’s office, and he asks her why she wanted to meet there. She says she didn’t want to discuss it over the
phone. Drew said he was tired, and asked Alexis what she wanted to talk about. Alexis said before they start, she asked who did that to his face. His bruises were still visible. Before Drew answers, Jason enters the office.
Trina tells Joss she doesn’t want to waste her time dragging Kai to a class he doesn’t really want to be in. Joss asks if he told her that. Trina says no, but people only take art history for a core requirement or if they are interested in it. It’s a hard course. Joss defends Kai, and says that a highly ranked star quarterback is used to hard work, and maybe he likes art. Trina smirkily says he’s probably a regular renaissance man. The only reason she agreed to work with him was because he said he never gives up when he sets his mind on something. Joss asks her to give him a chance. She jokingly tells Trina she’s a little bit of a control freak. Trina admits it’s because she finds life easier when she’s in control.
Back in the gym, Kai asks Dex how he knows Trina. Dex says Joss is his girlfriend, and that he probably met her at their
apartment. Kai remembers and that he’s pretty sure she convinced Trina to talk to him. Dex agrees, and spills that he did hear that Trina was complaining about Kai. Kai says yes, he was partnered with Trina in class, and he was sure she complained about him, she also told him he wasn’t pulling his weight. Dex jokingly says that we’re sure he could do that pointing at the weights. Kai said he would pull his weight in art class, too. Kai asks if Dex was a student, too. Dex tells him he’s a rookie cop. He was headed to his shift after the workout. Kai asks if Trina sent him to arrest him for loitering or disturbing the peace. Dex confides that Trina can be intense, but she’s a sweetheart and one of the smartest people he knows. He says Kai is lucky to get partnered with her. Kai is not so sure, since he had to convince her not to dump him. Dex laughs and says he’s sure a QB1 knows how to work hard. He asks why Kai is there at that gym and not at the state-of-the-art sports gym. Kai said he was going to do some boxing and ask if Dex wanted to spar with him for a few rounds. Dex asks if Kai’s coach would freak out if he got his ‘golden’ arm hurt. Kai said not if he didn’t know about it.
Over dinner, Sonny tells Kristina she’s been through a lot, and it was affecting her confidence. Kristina says making sure Ava pays for what happened to her daughter is her goal. She’s not sure what to do if she fails. Sonny said he’s seen her fail and succeed, and she got through it. Kristina says this is different, especially if Ava goes free. Sonny doesn’t care if Ava goes to prison or free. He tells his daughter she’s going to survive. Kristina says she doesn’t want to just survive, she wants justice. Losing Sam and Adela is too much, and she has never gone through that before. Sonny said she should concentrate on something else like working for him.
Dante and Chase continue their conversation as Dante tells him that he never thought he and his son, Rocko, would ever make that apartment feel like home when they first moved in. He said Sam fixed all that and made them feel so welcome there.
Chase says she loved them both. Dante still feels like she’s there, she’ll come out of the bathroom or the kitchen. He remembers them sitting in the living room arguing over what games to play. Chase says he bet Sam won those arguments, and Dante says 100% of the time. There’s a lot of memories there. Chase asked if there was a reason Dante, and his family couldn’t stay there. Dante said he has no claim to the apartment, and even if he did, the family (his and Sam’s family) no longer exists.
Drew asks Jason why he came to his office. Jason said to ask Alexis. She apologizes for the subterfuge, but she knew neither would come if they knew either was there. Drew was not staying, and Alexis said it was something important about Sam. Drew still wanted to leave and asked if both he and Jason needed to be told at the same time. She said yes. She said if they both loved Sam, they would stay. Jason asked what it was about. Alexis said it was about Sam’s will and what she wanted for Danny and Scout.
Back to Sonny and Kristina. Kristina said she appreciated his offer but wasn’t sure where she was with her life right now. She said she wasn’t qualified to run any of his businesses. Sonny tried to convince her by listing her abilities, she was good with numbers, had great organizational skills, and she works well with people. He said she was overqualified. Kristina said it was spoken like a true father. He asked her to hang around his Corillo’s Coffee business and see how she feels about it. She begrudgingly said she would think about it.
In the GH Employee’s Breakroom, TJ and Jordan are having a nice family talk and meal. Jordan asks her son how he’s doing, and she knew he liked Sam. TJ agrees he like her a lot. He tells her about Sam’s service. Jordan asked about Molly, and TJ said he wasn’t sure how she was doing because she and Alexis had to leave and do something for the reception. He said he and
Alexis have something in common, as they both forgot Molly’s birthday. Jordan knows that not a good thing.
Returning to Dante and Chase, Chase asks Dante what he’s gonna do with the apartment. Dante said he didn’t know; it was Sam’s apartment not his. He assumes it was left to Scout and Danny. Chase asks if Sam had a will. Dante said he and Sam talked about wills, because he had a dangerous job. He decided Sam should have custody of Rocko in case something happened to him. He also wanted her to have shared custody with his Mom, Olivia, to keep the kids together. He changed his will and made all the arrangements. Dante said he and Rocko now needs to find a place to live, and since he’s not Danny and Scout’s father, he couldn’t keep them all together. He felt he had no other choice.
In Drew’s Office, Jason and Drew read Sam’s will. Alexis made copies for both. She suggested they read it or have their lawyers read it. She has the original. Jason asks why he wasn’t told about this, since he’s Danny’s Father. Alexis said she wasn’t told either, because Sam was in perfect health. Drew reveals that he and Sam did talk about it. Sam asked him to be Danny’s guardian if something ever happened to her, and he agreed. Jason points out that the will was done before she knew he was alive. He asks was Sam’s intention to grant Danny’s custody to Drew no matter what. Drew said she just wanted the kids to be together. Both Drew and Alexis said Sam made that very clear to them. Jason said it was at that time. Alexis tries to talk Jason out of challenging the request. She acknowledges he has the law on his side and that Sam did want Jason to be a part of Danny’s life. She didn’t know if Sam wanted him to have full custody, especially since they know she wanted the kids to remain together. Alexis asks Jason what he wants to do.
In the Quartermaine kitchen, Sasha brings Michael a cup of coffee and asks if he wants something to eat. He’s sitting at the table looking sad and lost. She asks him why he can’t go home. He says what’s the point. He knows Willow’s put the kids to sleep and gone to bed early. Sasha asks if Willow’s avoiding him. He says it doesn’t matter because he can’t be anywhere near Willow in their home anymore. Sasha says it’s still his home. Michael says he doesn’t know what kind of home or marriage he has left anymore.
Sparring at the gym, Dex asks Kai if he should be concerned about Kai’s height advantage. Kai tells him he looks like he knows what he’s doing. Dex lets him know he may have boxed a little in the military. Kai respects his service. They talk about Kai’s stats and why his coach doesn’t want him to spar. Kai says he doesn’t want to worry him. Kai asks Dex if he’s a PCU fan. Dex says no, he’s a Landview Bobcats, no offense to Kai and his team. Kai says he’s going to be disappointed when they dust his team. Dex laughs at that. Kai says Trina mentioned they liked the PCU football games, and he could get him and Joss into a PCU Landview game. Dex says that would be cool and thanks him. Kai calls their sparring match, cuz he doesn’t want to be late for his study session with Trina. Dex lets Kai know what he thinks of him, and says he’s tough on the field, but seems to be a decent guy off the field. Kai thanks him for saying that and hopes he can convince Trina of that.
Trina and Joss are still at Bobbie’s Restaurant, Joss tells Trina that you can’t always be in control, and that sometimes you have to depend on someone. Trina counters with maybe she doesn’t want to depend on anyone. Joss says she can always depend on her. Joss tells her there are some things in life you can’t control and that’s okay. Trina is thoughtful and says maybe. Joss asks her to give Kai a chance, and maybe he’ll pull through. Trina says she’s already given him a chance. In her eyes he’s failed again.
Chase asks Dante why he won’t buy the apartment. Dante said it wouldn’t feel right. He said they will find somewhere else and start looking next week. Chase asked why they couldn’t stay at the Q’s house. Dante doesn’t want Rocko involved with whatever’s happening between Jason and Drew. Chase says it’s too bad Danny and Scout are. He says it’s a major mistake for Dante and Rocko to move out.
Jason says that they should ask Danny what he wants to stay with, not what he, Drew or Alexis want. He’s old enough to choose. He would make a home for Danny if that’s what he wants. Alexis asks what Jason would do if he decided to stay with Drew. Drew says the kids are all living together with him at the Quartermaines, does he want to split them up? Jason says he believes Danny should choose. Drew says he thinks Danny likes staying at the Quartermaine’s house. Jason tells him he doesn’t need him telling him about his son. Alexis says Danny has a lot of feelings that should be considered, but they should have the conversation first. She doesn’t want to be caught in their drama. She figures out that they were fighting. She says they should stop fighting, if they truly loved her daughter and their children.
Trina decides to leave since Kai is ten minutes late. Joss sees him entering the restaurant and makes an excuse to get some food for Dex. Kai walks over to Trina and apologizes for being late. He forgot his laptop and had to go get it.
Kristina walks over to the counter where Joss is waiting for her takeout order. She asks if it is okay to sit and talk. She’s stopping for some tea. Joss says how sorry she is about the loss of Sam and her baby. She asks if she’s taking care of herself. Kristina wanted to ask Joss something.
Back in the GH Breakroom, TJ tells his Mom that he had a gift for Molly back at their apartment, but he forgot about her birthday. If it weren’t for Rick wishing Molly a Happy Birthday, he might not have remembered. Jordan asked what Molly said.
TJ told her she said it was fine. He wished once she said it wasn’t fine, and she would burst out emotionally. Jordan said then she wouldn’t herself, she’d be Kristina. Compared to everything else, Molly probably thought it was fine. She tried to make him feel better because he forgot Molly’s Birthday. TJ said he never forgets something that important. He said the two most self-centered people he knew, Kristina and Rick, remembered Molly’s Birthday, but he forgot. He’s so stressed. Jordan said he was overwhelmed with all that’s been happening and is sure he will make it up to Molly. TJ says he will.
Chase tries to convince Dante that Danny and Scout need him just as much as Rocko, because he’s a father figure to them.
They depend on him. Dante admits he enjoyed being their stepdad. He appreciates Chase’s input, but still thinks he and Rocko should get their own place. Chase lets Dante know why he and Brook Lynn are at the Quartermaine’s. He says it had kept him from being lonely since his Dad died, and Finn and Violet moved away. Chase told Dante it would be good for him, too, especially since his he and his Mom were there. It’s okay to let his family in and he’s not alone.
Alexis asked if Jason and Drew got into a fist fight, and if their children say it. Drew told her he lied to them about walking into a door. Jason said he told Danny the truth. She asked if Jason told Danny what provoked him. Jason gestured at Drew. He told Alexis what he told Danny, that the matter is between him and Drew. Drew agreed, and Alexis is upset but satisfied they both agree. Jason got up to leave and stated he would fight for his son, Danny’s right to choose what he wants.
Michael and Sasha discuss their issues with Willow and Drew. Willow’s angry at Sasha for telling Cody about the kiss with Drew. Cody tells everyone at a public bar, and no apologies help the matter. Michael says that is a low priority on what else has happened. He’s not talking himself and Sasha sleeping together. He says there’s more to Willow and Drew than she knows. Sasha asks if there’s more, and Michael tells her that Willow and Drew slept together. She asks how he found out, and he says she doesn’t want to know. He’s positive, and they don’t know he knows. Sasha asks if he will confront them. He says he can’t because then he must tell Willow about their night together. Michael lets Sasha know that if he tells Willow that he sleeps with someone, he will keep her name out of it. He told him confiding in Jason is what prompted that fight with Drew. He didn’t expect that to happen, but he needed someone to confide in. Him watching Willow tenderly patching Drew’s wounds was eating away at him now. Willow has told Sasha she loves Michael, and she believes it. Michael believes it too, but he knows she wouldn’t risk everything unless she felt more for Drew.
Meanwhile, in Drew’s Office, Drew and Alexis discuss the fact of Danny being barred from Jason’s life. Drew agrees that Sam would not want that. Sam wouldn’t want the kids split up. Drew and Alexis believe Jason is violent and not capable of being a good father to Danny. Drew asks Alexis if she is okay with letting Danny live with Jason. She says no and suggests Scout and Danny move in with her. Neither Alexis nor Drew know why Jason fought with Drew at the Quartermaines.
Jason goes to get advice from Sonny. Sonny said that will was made years ago and tells him to contact Diane. They could get it thrown out. Sonny says custody battles are bad for everyone, and he references his with Ava. Jason wants to avoid that same situation, and not subject Danny to that. Jason knows Danny wants to take care of Scout, but he doesn’t want Drew raising his son. Sonny suspects there’s something else happening between Jason and Drew. He knows they were never close and asks what else is going on. Jason says he doesn’t trust Drew because he is living up to his Quartermaine name. Sonny says Danny knows his Father loves him even if Drew is his guardian.
Kai and Trina discuss their plans for their Art History Project. He teases her about using a planner. Trina likes using it for project management. Kai has no clue how to use one. Trina says they first need to collect a list of books for their project, and
Kai surprises her with that list. He asks her to check her email. He compiled it at 3 in the morning. He says he doesn’t get much sleep. Trina confides that she also doesn’t sleep well due to bad dreams. Kai agrees and says it’s hard to sleep when you have a lot on your mind.
At the counter, Kristina thanks Joss for saving her life. She doesn’t remember what Joss was saying, but she heard her voice and saw her face. Joss said she was doing her job but accepts Kristina’s gratitude. Joss asks how Kristina is managing with the trial, and Kristina asks her if she’s testifying. Joss says she is and is sick of seeing Ava get away with everything. She wants to make sure they get justice once and for all. Kristina agrees and says it’s for her daughter and their brother, Morgan.
Time to leave for Kristina and Joss. Joss tells Kristina she’s getting food for Dex, and Kristina says she’s glad they are back together. She says he’s a good guy. Joss agrees and tells Kristina they could all use a little bit of love in their lives as she watches Trina and Kai leave Bobbie’s after finishing their planning session. Outside, Trina tells Kai she’s going to research some of the books on their list and annotate them. He cautions her not to be up at 3 am doing that, but if she is, she can chat online with him. He’s bought a few of the books already and reading them. She tells him he can get the books at the library, but he jokes with her about that being something his grandmother used to do. She smiles watching him leave.
At GH, TJ asks Jordan if she’s seen Drew lately. She said no and asks why. TJ says he was at Sam’s funeral service wearing makeup. Jordan found that amusing. TJ says it was actually covering up a black eye. Jordan hadn’t seen him lately and has no idea what happened. TJ says he noticed Jason had a bruise on his face when he got up to speak. Jordan’s detective skills kick in and suggests Jason and Drew got into a fight. TJ laughs and says he seriously thinks she should get new friends. Jordan tells him not to worry, because she has a new friend that he might approve of. She’s smiling to herself and tells him she’ll tell him when she knows more as she pops a fortune cookie into her mouth.
In the kitchen with Sasha, Michael assures Sasha that he will keep her name out of his family problems. He doesn’t want anything to cause her problems. She appreciates it and says if he needs anyone to talk to, she’s there. He says he’s there for her, too. Sasha asks Michael what his next move will be. He says he doesn’t know, and he’s tired. He does know that he’s going to protect his family.
At Dante’s apartment, Chase says he’s going to let Dante finish up what he was doing and will see him at home. Dante tells Chase not to get ahead of himself. Drew says he knows that, but he says Scout needs to be with her Father, him. He’s not letting her live anywhere with him.
Jason and Sonny discuss custody issues. Jason tells Sonny that Sam told him he let Danny down in the past. He doesn’t want to do that again. He asks Sonny what he would do in this situation. He advises him to do what’s best for his son. Sonny says he wouldn’t Drew anywhere near his son. If there’s a fight, Sonny says he has his back.
