'General Hospital' Recasts Popular Character Lucas Jones
Van Hansis, known for his role as Luke Snyder on As the World Turns from 2005 to 2010, is set to reappear on daytime television on October 4 as Lucas Jones on General Hospital, a character previously portrayed by Ryan Carnes.
Hansis is excited about the opportunity to portray another gay character in a daytime setting. “I love that Lucas is not the only gay character on the show. I remember when Luke and Noah kissed [on As the World Turns] for the first time, we had Entertainment Tonight come,” he recalled when speaking to TV Insider. “And I get it, but it’s great that we’re in a place where it’s so casual, just like how it is in life. There are gay people in life so there should be gay people on soaps and queer people and trans people and all of that. So, the fact that it’s so ingrained and it’s not like ‘the gay character’ or ‘the gay storyline’ feels really nice.”
