Is there a doctor in the house? Grey’s Anatomy has finalized an agreement with Scott Speedman to not only continue his recurring role in Season 21 but also to feature in more episodes than the previous season, as confirmed by TVLine. While in the shortened Season 20 due to strikes, the actor portrayed Nick Marsh in four episodes, he is now scheduled to appear in five episodes this season.
News of Speedman’s increased role follows the recent announcement that Ellen Pompeo, who plays the leading lady on-screen, will have a more frequent presence in Season 21 compared to when she reduced her appearances as a regular cast member midway through Season 19. Despite Meredith Grey being dismissed by Catherine Fox in the Season 20 finale, it seems unlikely that she (along with Amelia Shepherd, Teddy Altman, and Owen Hunt) will remain fired.
Speedman first appeared on Grey’s Anatomy in Season 14, igniting a strong chemistry with Pompeo's character. This led to his return in Season 18 to continue the storyline with Meredith. Although their relationship had its ups and downs, by the conclusion of Season 20, they seemed fully devoted to each other. Meredith had even taken a significant step by making a downpayment on a house for them and her children.
