Meredith is back at Grey’s Sloan to perform special surgery for Catherine’s former student’s (Lena Waithe) wife. The tension is in the air as Richard is still upset with her about keeping Catherine’s secret. Richard seems to always be upset at Meredith for some reason or another. It is becoming quite old. Also, how can he be upset? Are there not HIPPA laws? Even though Meredith is one to not always follow the rules, technically she could not tell him. If anything, he should be mad at his wife.
Meanwhile, Ben and Winston have to transport a heart to a patient on the transplant list and the car ride over turns into a conversation about Winston’s patients mother whom he previously went out on a date with. It is always interesting when the doctors date outside characters because they never last. I see some sparks between Winston and Ameila but its weird because they were once sort of, kind of in-laws. Speaking of Ameila, her and Link work on a patient who hurt herself at her divorce party after she jumped off a bridge to try and get back her diamond ring she threw over.
Elsewhere, Bailey is hosting a “intern retreat” at her home, something Richard did for her during her intern years. Things are still icy with Millan and Simone as Millan has yet to apologize for not taking the blame (she did not strap a patient in properly on the OR table last episode and he fell off the table). I’m not sure why Millan just will not apologize. I understand she lost Yusuda but she has just been insufferable since.
Speaking of icy, Richard is still acting like a child when it comes to Meredith. That man is a hundred years old and acting like this. Nick decides that the transplant liver for Catherine’s star patients is not a good match because it is too big. Evynn saw the scans and tries to pressure Nick into using the liver.
On the way back with the organs, Winston and Ben get stopped on the side of the road to treat a mother and father involved in a motorcycle accident. Things are never easy. The paramedics are of course ten minutes out. When they do finally arrive, Winston has to open him up because he won’t make it to the hospital.
Millan crashes out during the team building exercise. She feels the team is broken because Yusuda left and everyone is enjoying life. She is being dramatic in my opinion. One person left the program after trauma people are allowed to get on with their lives. Lucas was shot at, your girlfriend left. It is not the same Millan.
What I have noticed is that Bailey has mellowed out over the years. She is not the big scary boss that she used to be in the early years in the show. I miss the old Bailey honestly. Winston asks the mom out and she turns him down – Ameila can swoop in now. I’m rooting for it.
Catherine’s patient has Alzheimer's and Meredith and Richard confront her about it. She had no idea, Evynn lied. I guess Millan and Simone made up although Millan still didn’t apologize. Link proposed to Jo, that man loves to propose, she said yes, and I am also rooting for them.
The episode overall does what Grey’s has done all these years. It was solid and had some good story. Is it as good as the competition, not really but still an enjoyable watch.
