Grotesquerie - Nicholas Alexander Chavez Talks Going from Lyle Menendez to Father Charlie: "Intensive Preparation"
Nicholas Alexander Chavez is booked and busy. His first lead role (from creator Ryan Murphy) as Lyle Menendez in Netflix's "Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story" debuted last week and is number one on the mega streamer. If that wasn't enough, this week his second Ryan Murphy project "Grotesquerie" airs on FX starting Thursday Setp 25, next day on Hulu where he plays Father Charlie, a role that gave him more freedom than Lyle Menendez.
In a press conference Monday, Nicholas was asked about the intensity of both characters and how did he find time in between to decompress and get back to himself.
Nicholas explained, "There was no time in between and there was no decompression" he added, "One of the nicer parts of playing Father Charlie is that I could really just follow my impulses and i just trusted my instincts and everyone around me enabled me to make really bold choices; so you know with Lyle there was intensive, intensive preparation; this one was more so just raw, unbridled impulse."
Not much more information was given regarding the details of his character.
The log line reads “a series of heinous crimes have unsettled a small community. Detective Lois Tryon feels these crimes are eerily personal, as if someone—or something—is taunting her. At home, Lois grapples with a strained relationship with her daughter, a husband in long-term hospital care and her own inner demons. With no leads and unsure of where to turn, she accepts the help of Sister Megan, a nun and journalist with the Catholic Guardian. Sister Megan, with her own difficult past, has seen the worst of humanity, yet she still believes in its capacity for good. Lois, on the other hand, fears the world is succumbing to evil. As Lois and Sister Megan string together clues, they find themselves ensnared in a sinister web that only seems to raise more questions than answers.”
