More chilling murders transpire in episodes 3 and 4 of Ryan Murphy’s Grotesquerie, leaving Detective Lois shocked, angry, and more determined than ever to catch the heinous serial killer. She and Sister Megan go on a quest where they find something incredibly shocking.
Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce finally made his acting debut in episode 3. He was punctual, charming, funny, and had fantastic chemistry with leading lady Niecy Nash.
Speaking of Nash, she gives a mesmerizing performance around the seventeen-minute mark of episode 3 when Lois gets called to the scene of another brutal crime. “The monster is out there,” Lois screamed. Another Emmy nomination may be in her future.
The complex and fractured relationship between Lois and her daughter Merritt is shown. Lois proposes to make a 12,000-calorie Turducken for Merritt in exchange for Lois being able to drink her heart out without a lecture. Merritt agrees to the deal.
Later, Father Charlie implores the Bishop and Mother Superior to consider keeping the church newspaper because it’s the most profitable it’s been in a decade. He emphasizes that if the church doesn’t modernize, it will die and unseriously suggests OnlyFans for the “couples of faith.”
Father Charlie and Sister Megan also enter uncharted territory when Megan gives in to her desires for him. Charles stops it before they sin more than they already have. Things go to the next level between them in episode 4.
Lois would not escape Nurse Redd’s antics. She tries to persuade Lois to give up her power of attorney over her husband. Overwhelmed with emotion, she storms out and meets a handsome stranger named Ed Laclan, Kelce’s character.
Ed is almost angel-like as he appears out of nowhere to lift Lois up. The two have undeniable chemistry and get invested in each other quickly. Kelce adds a charismatic energy to the character that makes him unique. It’ll be interesting to see if he truly is who he says.
Lois gets into a car accident and finds out that Laclan is a hospital orderly. He helps her escape from her chained hospital bed, and they ride off into the darkness in his shiny red car.
Episode 4 is even more surreal as Lois and Ed spend more time together, Megan and Charlie give in to their sin, and Lois and Megan go on a fiery adventure in the desert. They even sing “Jesus Christ Superstar” in the car together.
The dynamic duo discovers some gruesome activity including a female drowned in blood who rushes into their car screeching annoyingly. The acting from this extra left a lot to be desired and reinforced the silly aspects of the show.
The plot intensifies in both episodes as the characters experience their own struggles and temptations. Lois will continue to hunt for the sadistic murderer torturing her community while also navigating the torture in her own life.
The imminent danger this monster poses is sure to build up impacting everyone. Grotesquerie airs Wednesdays on FX at 10 PM and streams on Hulu the next day
