Happy's Place Season 1 Episode 2: "Tapped Out" Review

Happy’s Place is back! The show returns with its second episode, where we see Isabella and Bobbie navigating their new family and working relationship. Isabella, now a part-owner of Happy Place, wants more control in the business, but this proves difficult for Bobbie, who is used to managing everything herself. With her extensive experience running the place, Isbella struggles to adjust, even seeking advice from Emmet. He suggests that she may be coming across as overly entitled and advises her to take a step back. However, the two continue to clash, as Isabella’s approach to learning—shadowing Bobbie—is distracting and disruptive. This conflict highlights the generational differences between them.

As Isabella follows Bobbie around, there’s one thing she doesn’t know: Bobbie has already consulted their lawyer to explore options for removing Isabella as a co-owner. Bobbie admits she likes Isabella but feels that she’s in the way. Before they can dive deeper into this plan, Isabella walks in, ending the conversation.

Later, as Bobbie vents to Gabby about Isabella’s constant questions, she realizes their lawyer, Jim, might be discussing the removal plan with Isabella. Bobbie rushes to find out, and her fears are confirmed—Isabella looks visibly hurt. Isabella tells Bobbie that she was supposed to be a mentor but is instead trying to get rid of her. Bobbie admits she didn’t anticipate how difficult things would be and that Isabella’s presence is more overwhelming than expected. Isabella presses Bobbie, asking if she truly wants her there, and Bobbie insists she does, even if she’s struggling to find the right balance.

Emmett later pulls Bobbie aside, reminding her that Isabella is also grieving the loss of their father and trying to find her place at Happy Place. Bobbie acknowledges her missteps, and after collecting herself, she finally opens up to Isabella. She apologizes, explaining her confusing actions, and reassures Isabella that she, too, wants to build their relationship as sisters. Their argument, where Bobbie agrees with Isabella’s criticisms of herself, turns into one of the episode’s funniest scenes, showcasing their dynamic perfectly.

As the episode wraps up, Bobbie is home, singing to her late father. Isabella arrives and suggests she could shadow other employees instead, giving Bobbie some space. They agree on this plan. Before leaving, Isabella asks about payment, and Bobbie humorously explains that small business owners don’t get paid. However, realizing Isabella needs a place to stay, Bobbie offers her sister Gracie’s room, as she’s currently deployed. Just as they settle in, Gabby enters and tries to make herself at home, ending the scene with Bobbie turning off the lights.

This episode is a joy to watch—fresh and fun. Reba McEntire’s star power shines through, as always, making Happy’s Place engaging and entertaining. I’m especially excited for Isabella’s mother’s eventual arrival, which promises even more drama. Whenever that happens, I’ll be watching!
