Happy’s Place begins in the office, where Isabella decorates her desk to make it feel personal. Isabella awkwardly declines her offer to keep any of his things, but when she asks to visit their father’s home, Bobbie reluctantly agrees. Isabella is thrilled, while Gabby begs to tag along but is firmly shut down.
Steve looks forward to having the office to himself on their day off, but Emmett ruins his excitement, reminding him he’ll be there working on kitchen supplies. Meanwhile, Gabby overhears Emmett mention a mysterious penny, sparking her curiosity. Emmett spins a story about their father, Happy, being a penny collector, which sends Gabby plotting to find this “valuable” penny.
At their father’s house, Bobbie hesitates to open the door, as it’s her first visit since his passing. She eventually shows Isabella around, sharing memories of their childhood. The two bond, though Isabella asks a painful question: why wasn’t she acknowledged? Bobbie reflects on her own guilt and the connection they missed.
Elsewhere, Steve and Emmett struggle to make conversation but eventually bond over football and olives. Meanwhile, Gabby and Takado crash the father’s house, searching for the infamous penny. Bobbie, fed up, gives Gabby 40,000 pennies to sort through, ultimately Bobbie confesses there’s no legendary penny.
During the visit, Isabella falls off the roof but is unharmed. She notices a hat Gabby is wearing, which leads to the discovery that their father secretly attended Isabella’s graduation. This revelation brings her unexpected comfort, leaving her with a sense of closure.
