HBO has dropped a gripping new trailer for its upcoming drama Get Millie Black, and it’s clear that the titular detective won’t stop until she uncovers the truth—no matter the cost. The trailer opens with a chilling line: “You spend so long looking for lost people, you finally lost yourself,” a statement that perfectly captures the emotional intensity of Millie Black's journey. And that’s just one of the more subdued moments in the two-minute preview!
In Get Millie Black, former Scotland Yard detective Millie-Jean Black (played by Tamara Lawrance, Invasion) returns to Kingston, Jamaica, to work on missing persons cases. The official logline teases that Millie is “on a quest to save a sibling who won’t be saved, to find a child who can’t be found, and to solve a case that will shatter her world”—a case as elusive and complicated as Millie herself. The trailer hints at the emotional and psychological toll the investigation will take on her as she confronts personal and professional challenges.
The series also introduces Luke Holborn, played by Game of Thrones alum Joe Dempsie, a British detective whose investigation intersects with Millie’s own. The cast is rounded out by Gershwyn Eustache Jnr (Britannia) as Curtis, Millie’s police partner, and Chyna McQueen as Hibiscus, Millie’s sister and a member of the Sunlight Ladies—a group of queer outcasts in Kingston.
Directed by Tanya Hamilton (Winning Time, Godfather of Harlem), Get Millie Black promises to be a tense, character-driven drama filled with twists, deep personal stakes, and a relentless search for truth.
The limited series will premiere on HBO on Monday, November 25, at 9/8c.
