Je-Ree Reviews Media Roll Call: R&B Superstar Omarion is Heading to TV

The media landscape is constantly evolving, with new shows, unexpected cancellations, and exciting developments shaping our viewing options. In this review, we’ll dive into the latest updates from popular television networks and streaming platforms, giving audiences a glimpse of what they can anticipate in the months ahead.

The Wranglers: A Sudden Shuffle

In an unexpected turn, The CW has pulled "The Wranglers" from its Monday-night lineup. This reality series followed young staff members at the Circle Bar Dude ranch in Montana. It launched on September 23, garnering merely 130,000 viewers in its debut. Over three airings, it averaged just 160,000 viewers, reflecting a 35% retention rate from the superhero drama "Superman & Lois."

Due to its lackluster performance, The CW has shifted the entire eight-episode season to the CW app and CWTV.com. In place of the show, "Driving the Vote," a special focused on the upcoming elections, will air on November 4. Following that, viewers can look forward to reruns of "The Conners" in the same time slot.

Exciting Developments in Masterpiece Theater

A standout moment in the media world is the upcoming release of "Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light." This trailer has sparked excitement for the second and final installment of the series inspired by Hilary Mantel’s celebrated book trilogy. The stellar cast features notable talents like Mark Rylance and Damian Lewis, with fans eagerly awaiting performances from Jonathan Pryce and Harriet Walter that will bring Tudor history to life.

Apple TV+ Expands Its Roster

In film news, Apple TV+ is developing a sequel to "The Family Plan." The original film triumphed among audiences, and this follow-up looks to build on that success. Returning cast members include Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Monaghan, alongside director Simon Cellan Jones. Fans can expect another thrilling adventure highlighting themes of family and loyalty that fans loved in the first film.

Omarion Takes on a Dramatic Role

R&B sensation Omarion is stepping into the dramatic spotlight with his upcoming role in the AMC Networks series "Wild Rose." He will portray Roosevelt, a hitman balancing a family deeply involved in both crime and philanthropy. When Roosevelt's wife and daughter go missing, he is thrust into a gripping journey filled with secrets, pushing him to confront his identity. This show promises to weave together intense action and emotional storytelling, making it a must-watch for drama fans.

Renewals and Special Appearances

On the comedy front, BET+ has renewed "Churchy" for its second season. Created by comedian Kevin “KevOnStage” Fredericks, the show has developed a loyal following thanks to its clever humor and relatable themes. Season 1 will premiere on linear BET on November 5 at 9 PM.

In addition, reality star Ariana Madix, known from "Vanderpump Rules," will guest star in Season 3 of "Will Trent." This crossover aims to attract viewers from both the reality and scripted realms, allowing Madix to explore a distinct narrative arc in the series.

Max unveiled a preview of Sweethearts, featuring Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men) and Nico Hiraga (The Power) in the roles of best friends and college newcomers attempting to end their relationships with their high school sweethearts. Check out the trailer:
