And just like that, Cyrus Renault’s story comes to a close, thanks to Josslyn Jacks! Jeff Kober, who portrayed the mobster turned reformed man of God, was written off in the February 20 episode of General Hospital. Kober played the character on and off since February 2020, and his exit marks the end of a memorable run.
In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Kober shared his feelings about leaving the show: "I miss going to work, I miss the people, I miss the process. I gotta tell you, I love acting on a soap. It’s so dangerous for an actor to let go and let the scene happen, and General Hospital gave me an opportunity to practice that letting go, day after day after day, and I relished that. And I will miss that."
Born in Billings, Montana, in 1953, Kober made his way to Los Angeles in his twenties, where he honed his craft and eventually became a highly respected actor. During his time on General Hospital, he even took home the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2022.
As Kober wraps up his time on the show, his final scenes with Rebecca Herbst (Liz Webber) were a masterclass in acting. It’s certainly a big loss for GH fans. Will you miss Jeff Kober’s portrayal of Cyrus Renault?
