Jill Jacobson, Actress Known for Falcon Crest and Newhart, Dies at 70


Jill Jacobson, the actress best known for her roles in Falcon Crest, Newhart, and The New Gidget, has passed away at the age of 70.


Jacobson’s death was confirmed by her friend, Dan Harary, who shared with The Hollywood Reporter that she passed away on December 8 at Cedars-Sinai’s Culver West Health Center after a long battle with illness.





Jacobson’s career included a notable role as Erin Jones on the CBS soap opera Falcon Crest from 1985 to 1987. She also portrayed Larue Wilson in the short-lived sitcom The New Gidget (1986-1987), a sequel to the 1960s Gidget series starring

Sally Field. Additionally, Jacobson appeared in the Star Trek universe, playing Vanessa in Star Trek: The Next Generation (1989) and Aroya in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1996).


Her extensive television career also saw her in roles on Quantum Leap, Newhart, Who’s the Boss?, Uncle Buck, Murphy Brown, Days of Our Lives, Castle, and Party Down.


In addition to her television work, Jacobson appeared in several films, including Visage, Reality Queen!, House of Usher, and The Circle.
