Joy (voiced once again by Amy Poehler) is back to guide audiences into the heart of Riley’s mind in Dream Productions, a new Pixar TV series set between the events of Inside Out and its upcoming sequel, Inside Out 2.
Premiering Wednesday, December 11, on Disney+, the four-episode series delves into the imaginative world of Riley’s subconscious, where dreams are crafted with precision. “Every night, on time and on budget,” promises the official synopsis.
As Riley (voiced by Kensington Tallman) continues to grow, her memories sometimes require extra processing. To handle this, Joy and the Core Emotions send them to Dream Productions, where acclaimed director Paula Persimmon (Girls5eva’s Paula Pell) is facing her own creative nightmare: producing a new hit dream while working alongside Xeni (Krapopolis’ Richard Ayoade), a smug daydream director eager to break into the world of night dreams.
The talented voice cast also includes Maya Rudolph (SNL), Ally Maki (The Big Door Prize, Hit-Monkey), Liza Lapira (The Equalizer) as Disgust, Tony Hale (Veep) as Fear, Lewis Black as Anger, and Phyllis Smith (The Office) as Sadness.
Written and directed by Mike Jones and produced by Jaclyn Simon, Dream Productions embraces a mockumentary style, offering a hilarious and heartfelt exploration of the dream-making process inside Riley’s mind.
