Actress Michelle Trachtenberg, renowned for her roles in iconic TV shows and films like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, has tragically passed away at the age of 39, according to multiple sources.

Trachtenberg was found by her mother around 8 a.m. on Wednesday at One Columbus Place, a 51-story luxury apartment building in Manhattan’s Central Park South area. Reports suggest that the actress had recently undergone a liver transplant.

At this time, her death is not being treated as suspicious. Born on October 11, 1985, in New York City, Trachtenberg’s acting career began at the young age of nine when she appeared on the popular 1990s Nickelodeon show The Adventures of Pete and Pete, playing the quirky character Nona F. Mecklenberg.

She continued to build her career with numerous roles in kid-oriented films and TV shows, making her big-screen debut in the 1996 film Harriet the Spy, where she starred as the title character. As she grew older, Trachtenberg transitioned to more mature roles, notably portraying Dawn Summers, the sister of the titular character in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and the manipulative Georgina Sparks on Gossip Girl, a role that made her a fan favorite during the show's six-season run.

Trachtenberg was discovered unconscious in her Midtown apartment on Columbus Drive on the morning of February 26. While the cause of death remains unclear, sources have stated that there is no indication of foul play.

Ella Ditraglia, 20, a fan and neighbor of the actress, expressed her shock and sadness at the news. "I’m devastated. I didn’t even know she lived here. I love her work, and it’s just sad news. My thoughts are with her family and friends," Ditraglia shared with amNewYork Metro while leaving the building.

Once we have more details, we will share.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.
