Soap opera fans have an exciting reason to celebrate! Jon Lindstrom and Cady McClain, both accomplished actors in the genre, are joining the cast of CBS’s upcoming soap, Beyond the Gates. This thrilling news was announced during a press event on Sunday, ramping up the anticipation for the show’s premiere. With their talent and experience, both actors promise to bring captivating performances to the screen.

Jon Lindstrom, recognized for his compelling roles on General Hospital and Port Charles, will portray Joey Armstrong. Joey is described as an entrepreneur who runs a bustling casino, a setting ripe for intense drama and character development. Lindstrom noted, "Joey comes from humble beginnings. He’s fought to get where he is, but he still has his charm.”

The casino setting will serve as a backdrop for numerous storylines. Lindstrom emphasized the challenges Joey will face, stating, “If you’ve ever been inside a casino, you know they can lead people into trouble. Joey doesn’t like trouble, but he knows how to handle it when it arises.”

Cady McClain joins Lindstrom as Pamela Curtis, a role for which she draws on her extensive experience, having won three Daytime Emmy Awards for her memorable work in All My Children and Days of Our Lives. In Beyond the Gates, Pamela is an old friend of Dani Dupree, played by Karla Mosley. McClain expressed her excitement, stating, “I’m thrilled to be part of such an incredible show. The production is beautiful, and the cast is amazing.” The dynamic between Pamela and Dani will be crucial in shaping the narrative. McClain hinted, “Our characters, who are dear old friends, get into a bit of mischief, but that’s all I’ll say for now.” This friendship introduces both nostalgia and playfulness.

Michele Val Jean, the show’s creator, shared her enthusiasm for the new cast additions. “I’ve been eagerly waiting to share this news. It’s a privilege and joy to introduce Jon Lindstrom as Joey Armstrong and Cady McClain as Pamela Curtis,” she remarked. Val Jean’s admiration for both actors shines through, revealing her excitement not just for their skills but also for their contributions to the show’s heart and soul. This kind of passion can significantly enhance viewer engagement, particularly in genres like soap operas where personal connections matter deeply.

While the exact premiere dates for the characters have yet to be announced, fans can anticipate that McClain will feature prominently in a wedding episode, supporting Dani during her ex-husband Bill Hamilton's wedding. This much-anticipated episode, which will be the show’s fifth, was filmed in early November. Lindstrom is expected to make his debut in the thirteenth episode, scheduled for filming in December.

With these developments, viewers have much to look forward to in Beyond the Gates. The addition of seasoned actors like Lindstrom and McClain not only heightens the drama but also enriches the storytelling, paving the way for memorable character arcs and engaging narratives.

Beyond the Gates is the first new soap opera to debut on a broadcast network in over 25 years, since Passions in 1999. It will also be the first one-hour Black-centric daytime drama series. The show premieres Monday, February 24 at 2:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. PT on CBS and will also be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+.

In anticipation of the premiere, CBS will air a five-part daytime special titled Beyond the Gates: Welcome to the Neighborhood during the week of February 17-21. This special will offer viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the show, from its focus on Black culture to its lavish sets.
