This is a pen. We are headed back to Olympus for another season of our favorite trio (still love you Harry, Ron and Hermione).
Disney has made fans day and renewed Percy Jackson for a third season and season two hasn't even aired yet. On top of that we have not even seen a proper trailer. This shows the confidence the House of Mouse has in the franchise.
Percy Jackson originally premiered on December 19, 2023, and has been a ratings hit for Mickey’s app. According to sources, the show ranked in the top five most watched shows. The series follows demi-god pre-teen Percy Jackson as he discovers the history of his origins. The Greek King of the Gods Zeus is uncle, and the King of the Sea Poseidon is his father.
After learning the truth and being sent away for his own safety he embarks on a journey with his two best friends Grover and Annabeth, to return Zeus’ lightning bolts to him. What happens is a fantastical tale of friendship, loyalty and love.
The series would not be the hit it is for Disney (Disney+) without the chemistry of the three leads, Walker Scobell (Percy Jackson), Leah Jeffries (Annabeth Chase) and Aryan Simhadri (Grover Underwood). When casting was first announced Leah Jeffries faced online bullying from so called “fans” because of her race but those people were quickly silenced as she made the character of Annabeth Chase her own. Now we are watching this young trio grow up before our very eyes.
With the announcement of season three (again before a trailer drop for season two is insane) fans are already wondering if we will see Percy and Annabeth enter their couple era. Only time will tell.
So, what do we know about season 3? The season will follow the book of course, specifically The Titan’s Curse, the third book in the series. It makes perfect sense.
Disney Branded Television president Ayo Davis spoke about the early renewal stating, “From the moment Percy Jackson and the Olympians debuted, it was clear this series had struck a chord with fans of all ages. With Season 2 set to premiere this December, we’re thrilled to announce that Percy’s journey will continue with a third season. Huge thanks to our incredible cast and creative team, our partners at 20th Television, and our visionary and talented producers who continue to bring Rick Riordan’s world to life with such depth and imagination.”
Rick Riordan, author of the books added his thoughts, “We’re so grateful to be continuing the story of Percy Jackson on Disney+.
This third season will be new territory for the screen, bringing fan favorites like the Hunters of Artemis and Nico di Angelo to life for the first time. It’s a huge sign of commitment from Disney and speaks volumes about the enthusiasm with which the fandom has embraced the TV show. Thank you, demigods worldwide!”
