Performer of the Week: Aldis Hodge in 'Cross'

Aldis Hodge has taken on the role of Alex Cross, delivering the most impressive on-screen depiction of the iconic detective thus far. With his well-known versatility and emotional depth, Hodge's portrayal captures the brilliance and imperfections of Cross in a way that humanizes and makes him more relatable than ever before.

While Morgan Freeman previously portrayed Alex Cross in Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider, and Tyler Perry in 2012's Alex Cross, Hodge brings a unique complexity to the character. Unlike Freeman's seasoned detective or Perry's action-oriented version, Hodge strikes a balance between intellect and emotion, creating a captivating portrayal.

Hodge's physical resemblance to Alex Cross is striking, aligning well with the character's intellectual prowess and physical capabilities. His strong, athletic build and commanding presence make him a natural fit for the multifaceted detective, adding a level of authenticity often missing in similar characters.

Unlike previous portrayals that emphasized different facets of Cross, Hodge achieves a balance, showcasing the coexistence of intelligence, physicality, and vulnerability. While his physicality enhances action scenes, it's his portrayal of the character's emotional depth that truly distinguishes him from those who came before.
