Peyton Meyer is set to make his debut on Days of Our Lives on December 3, stepping into the role of Doug Williams III, the grandson of the iconic Doug Williams (played by Bill Hayes) TV Insider reports.
Starting his acting career early, Meyer was residing in Nashville when the chance to join the soap opera arose. He told TV Insider, "It’s a bit of a crazy story," Meyer recounts. "I lived in L.A. for about 10 years, then during COVID, I relocated to Nashville for two and a half years. After stepping away from acting, I decided I was ready to return. I booked a room with some friends, and just four days after moving in, I landed a role on Days of Our Lives. The timing was incredible."
Doug Williams, first appearing in 1970 as a con man, is notorious for stirring up trouble. Meyer notes that his character’s grandson will carry on this legacy. Meyer was ecstatic to discover that his debut episode on Days of Our Lives would coincide with the show's landmark 15,000th episode. However, he was surprised by the atmosphere on set. Despite his excitement, the cast was mourning the loss of Bill Hayes, who had played Doug Williams for 54 years before passing away in January.
Meyer’s first scene was with Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie Williams), Bill’s real-life and on-screen spouse. Meyer’s career began at age 10 in Las Vegas, where he started modeling before moving into acting. Following Girl Meets World, Meyer joined the cast of American Housewife.
As he gears up for his Days of Our Lives debut, Meyer reflects on the challenges and rewards of balancing his career with family life. “It’s been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career,” he says. “Managing travel between Nashville and L.A. and looking after my son pushed me to my limits. I’ve learned so much as an actor, and I feel like this experience has elevated my performance," he told TV Insider.
