Preview: Goosebumps Season 2 - Everything We Know So Far

With the arrival of cold mornings, spooky season has officially begun, signaling the upcoming release of Season 2 of Goosebumps on Disney+ and Hulu.

Disney revealed on Tuesday that the next installment in the anthology series, Goosebumps: The Vanishing, featuring Friends alum David Schwimmer, will debut on Friday, Jan. 10. All eight episodes will be available for streaming at once on Disney+ and Hulu.

The promotional artwork and teaser trailer give viewers a first glimpse of Schwimmer as Anthony Brewer, a former botany professor deeply involved in science and mystery, as described in the character breakdown. The new episodes will draw inspiration from various Goosebumps books including “Stay Out of the Basement,” “The Haunted Car,” “Monster Blood,” “The Girl Who Cried Monster,” “The Ghost Next Door,” and “Welcome to Camp Nightmare.”

According to Disney+, Goosebumps: The Vanishing follows the story of twins Cece (Jayden Bartels) and Devin Brewer (Sam McCarthy) who spend a summer in Gravesend, Brooklyn, with their divorced father. As they uncover dark secrets and a looming threat, a series of events unfold, unraveling a profound mystery. Alongside their friends Alex (Francesca Noel), CJ (Elijah M. Cooper), and Frankie (Galilea La Salvia), they become entwined in the chilling tale of four teenagers who mysteriously disappeared in 1994 — the same year Friends premiered.

Completing the cast is Ana Ortiz (Ugly Betty) as Jen, a committed police detective with deep roots in her Brooklyn neighborhood following a tragic event involving her friends during her youth.

Season 2 debuts 14 months after the conclusion of Goosebumps’ Season 1 finale, which featured Justin Long (New Girl) and Rachael Harris (Lucifer), incorporating elements from “Say Cheese and Die,” “The Haunted Mask,” “The Cuckoo Clock of Doom,” “Go Eat Worms,” and “Night of the Living Dummy.”

Goosebumps was previously adapted for television as an episodic anthology series, airing for four seasons on YTV and Fox Family from 1995 to 1998. More recently, Jack Black portrayed Stine in two feature films: 2015’s Goosebumps and 2018’s Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween.
