PREVIEW: Grotesquerie: Full Details, Revealed for Ryan Murphy’s FX Horror Series
Details on Ryan Murphy's newest horror has finally been released. The debut season of "Grotesquerie" on FX will consist of 10 episodes and is set to premiere on Wednesday, September 25 at 10/9c. Viewers can stream the episodes on Hulu the following day. Niecy Nash-Betts takes on the lead role of Detective Lois Tryon, who is tasked with solving a series of brutal crimes in her hometown. The official logline hints that these crimes are becoming increasingly personal, suggesting that someone or something is deliberately provoking her.
Aside from dealing with her duties related to the case, Lois is also juggling numerous challenges in her personal life. Her husband, Marshall (played by Courtney B. Vance), is receiving long-term care in the hospital, and she is experiencing tension in her relationship with her daughter, Merritt (portrayed by Raven Goodwin).
Feeling uncertain about where to start, Lois decides to seek help from Sister Megan (Michaela Diamond), a nun and reporter for the Catholic Guardian. Sister Megan, who has faced her own challenges in the past and witnessed the darkest side of humanity, still holds onto the belief in its potential for good. In contrast, Lois is apprehensive about the world's descent into evil. As they piece together clues, Lois and Sister Megan become entangled in a dark and mysterious situation that seems to create more questions than answers.
Grotesquerie features Lesley Manville as Nurse Redd, Nicholas Alexander Chavez as Father Charlie, and Travis Kelce in a yet undisclosed role.
The series is the brainchild of Ryan Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz, and Joe Baken, who also serve as executive producers alongside Alexis Martin Woodall, Max Winkler, Nash-Betts, Peter Liguori, Nissa Diederich, Eric Kovtun, and Scott Robertson.
