PREVIEW: Mid-Century Modern Feat. Nathan Lane & Matt Bomer

Nathan Lane and Matt Bomer will be performing Mid-Century Modern live in front of a studio audience.

Hulu has officially ordered a series for the multi-camera comedy, featuring Nathan Lee Graham (LA to Vegas) and sitcom icon Linda Lavin (Alice), alongside Nathan Lane and Matt Bomer. This decision follows the streaming service's initial pilot commission two months ago.

Mid-Century Modern, created by Max Mutchnick and David Kohan of Will & Grace, with Ryan Murphy as executive producer, draws loose inspiration from The Golden Girls. The show revolves around “three best friends – mature gay men – who, following an unexpected loss, opt to spend their later years together in Palm Springs where the wealthiest among them resides with his mother,” as described in the official synopsis. “As a chosen family, they demonstrate that no matter how tough things get, there's always someone to suggest that a little cosmetic enhancement wouldn't hurt.”

Character bios:

Nathan Lane is Bunny Schneiderman - “A successful businessman with one foot in retirement, Bunny is forever in search of love, but he first has to be convinced he’s worthy of it.”

Linda Lavin is Sybil Schneiderman -“Like her son, Sybil’s strengths are her weaknesses — wise, caring and iconoclastic — which sometimes means she’s critical, smothering and amoral.”

Matt Bomer is Jerry Frank -“Jerry left the Mormon Church and his marriage in his early 20s after his wife informed him and the rest of the congregation that he was a homosexual. Now a latter-day saint in the literal sense of the term, Jerry is pure of heart. He is also hard of body and soft of head.”

Nathan Lee Graham is Arthur -“Arthur is a dignified, elegant, fashion industry veteran who believes that life will never quite match the grace and panache that would exist if only he were in charge.”
