Prime Video Announces New Original Series, The House of the Spirits
SANTIAGO, Chile—July 17, 2024—Prime Video has announced an upcoming eight-episode Original series titled The House of the Spirits, based on Isabel Allende’s best-selling novel. The series, which will be filmed entirely in Spanish, is set in Chile and produced by FilmNation and Fabula. Isabel Allende and Eva Longoria will serve as executive producers, alongside showrunners Francisca Alegría, Fernanda Urrejola, and Andrés Wood.
The series will feature an international cast including Alfonso Herrera (Sense 8, Ozark), Dolores Fonzi (Blondi, Somos Belén), Nicole Wallace (Culpa Mía, Skam), Juan Pablo Raba (Narcos, News of a Kidnapping), and Fernanda Castillo (El Señor de los Cielos, Isla Brava), with more cast members to be announced.
The House of the Spirits follows the Trueba family through a century of social change, focusing on their passions, struggles, and secrets. The series will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories.
Isabel Allende expressed her excitement for the adaptation: "My first novel The House of the Spirits has been in print for 40 years, and now it will be a wonderful series on Amazon with Eva Longoria leading a dream creative team. I hope everyone enjoys it."
