Prime Video has decided to cancel The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh after just one season. The comedy series, which premiered in October 2024 on Amazon Freevee, has failed to secure a second season despite its promising premise and a talented cast.
The show starred Naveen Andrews (Lost) and stand-up comedian Sindhu Vee as the heads of the Pradeep family. The series followed their move from India to the United States, where they quickly found themselves in trouble with the authorities. Told through a series of hilarious, often conflicting flashbacks during an interrogation, the family becomes entangled with a drastically different neighborhood family, which leads to both personal and professional complications. The show promised plenty of humor, surprising twists, and cultural clashes.
The ensemble cast included Sahana Srinivasan as Bhanu Pradeep, Arjun Siriam as Kamal Pradeep, Ashwin Sakthivel as Vinod Pradeep, Ethan Suplee as Jimbo Mills, Nicholas Hamilton as Stu Mills, Pete Holmes as Dark Suit, and Romy Rosemont as Light Suit. Additionally, Megan Hilty, known for her role in Smash, portrayed Janice Mills, the Pradeeps' Bible-thumping neighbor.
Created by Vijal Patel, who has previously worked on Schooled and The Kids Are Alright, the series offered a fresh take on family dynamics and cultural assimilation. Despite its potential, The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh was unable to capture a strong enough audience to continue beyond its first season.
Deadline was the first to report the cancellation of the series.
