Melissa Benoist, known for her roles in Supergirl and Glee, has joined the cast of Netflix's upcoming family drama The Waterfront, created by Kevin Williamson per TVLine. The series, inspired by true events, explores the struggles of the Buckley family as they fight to maintain control over their failing North Carolina fishing empire, resorting to increasingly desperate measures.
Holt McCallany will portray the family patriarch, Harlan Buckley, while Maria Bello takes on the role of his wife, Mae Buckley. Benoist will play their daughter, Bree, who, after battling alcohol abuse, is now sober and striving to rebuild her relationship with her son, from whom she has lost custody. The show promises to delve deep into the complexities of family dynamics and the challenges of addiction.
Rafael L. Silva, known for 9-1-1: Lone Star, has also joined the cast of The Waterfront as Shawn Wilson, a bartender for the Buckley family who harbors a secret that could jeopardize their stability.

Jake Weary (Animal Kingdom) will portray Cane Buckley, Harlan's only son. Cane has a complicated relationship with his father, always striving to please him despite feeling conflicted. He enjoys the financial perks of the family business, which serve as a temporary fix for his unfulfilled life.
Humberly González (Ginny & Georgia) takes on the role of Jenna Tate, a journalist who returns to her hometown to care for her ailing father. She unexpectedly reconnects with Cane, her high school boyfriend, who still has feelings for her.
Danielle Campbell (The Originals, Tell Me a Story) plays Peyton Buckley, Cane’s supportive wife and mother to their 8-year-old child.
Brady Hepner (The Black Phone) plays Diller Hopkins, Bree’s son, who currently lives with her ex-husband. Diller looks up to his grandfather Harlan but struggles with resentment toward his mother.
Zach Roerig (The Vampire Diaries, As the World Turns) will portray Troy, although details about his character remain under wraps.
Gerardo Celasco (How to Get Away With Murder, Devil in Ohio) joins the cast as DEA Agent Marcus Sanchez.
Michael Gaston (The Leftovers, The Mentalist) takes on the role of Sheriff Clyde Porter.
The ensemble cast promises to bring depth to the drama as they navigate complex family relationships and personal challenges within the backdrop of their crumbling fishing empire.
