In this episode, Jennings is caught off guard by his daughter Ocean’s bold plans for the future. I can’t help but feel for Jennings—he’s clearly trying to protect her, even if it means frustrating her. Ocean’s drive to follow Noah around the world to study film is admirable, but it also seems like she’s chasing someone else’s dream instead of her own. I think it’s really smart of Jennings to encourage her to take the time to explore on her own and figure out what she truly wants. It’s a tough love moment, but I’m glad he pushed her to reconsider. Her decision to think it through, and vow to find her own passion, felt like a small step toward her own maturity.
Meanwhile, Will’s heroics on tower duty were pretty amazing. I mean, jumping in to save two people from the water? That’s a high point for any episode. But then, when Laka nudges him to embrace casual hookups to “move on,” I was torn. On one hand, I get it—he’s dealing with a lot of emotional baggage from his breakup, but his whole journey with the woman he rescues feels like a clear mismatch with who he is. The fact that he tries to go along with it to embrace Laka’s advice just felt a little off. Will seems like someone who wears his heart on his sleeve, so pushing him into this more detached mindset just doesn’t suit him. It’s clear that he's not the type for casual flings, and I think his inner turmoil will catch up with him sooner rather than later.
The dynamic between Em and Sean also tugged at my heart. The imbalance in their “friends-with-benefits” situation was so obvious, and Em’s repeated pushing away of Sean was a little painful to watch. I feel like Sean deserves someone who can be fully present for him, and while Em is being honest about still having feelings for Will, it’s hard to see her dragging Sean through this emotional limbo. It’s like she’s not able to give herself completely to either relationship, and I wonder how long she can keep this up. Sean, on the other hand, is so understanding, but you can see he’s getting hurt. I really hope Em figures things out soon, not just for Sean’s sake, but for her own emotional well-being.

There was a quiet but powerful moment with Hina that really stood out to me. Her strained relationship with her mother felt so real—family dynamics can be complicated, and the way her mom's coldness stems from feeling abandoned was heartbreaking. But what really hit me was Hina’s decision to help her mom with her dance classes. It showed real growth, and
I admire how she’s trying to heal that rift in a meaningful way. Family can be so challenging, especially when you feel torn between your own life and the expectations placed on you. Hina’s choice to be there for her mom felt like a turning point for her—she’s moving toward understanding herself and her responsibilities in a way I think she’s been avoiding.
Then there's the Ocean and Sonny storyline. I really get where both are coming from. Ocean wants independence, but Sonny sees how young and impressionable she still is. I think it’s such a relatable moment—the push and pull between wanting to chase your dreams and realizing your decisions will affect your future. Sonny’s refusal to let Ocean just follow Noah is tough, but it shows that he’s not just trying to control her. He wants her to be her own person, not just a follower. It’s a hard truth for Ocean to hear, but in the long run, I think she’ll come to understand that Sonny is just looking out for her.
This episode was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster, and I can’t shake the feeling that some of these relationships are headed for inevitable conclusions. Will and Em, in particular, feel like they’re on a path to some kind of resolution, but it’s unclear whether it’ll be a happy one. There’s a lot of personal growth happening with the other characters, though—Ocean, Hina, and even Sonny—showing signs of figuring out who they are and what they want. But I do think the show is starting to feel a little repetitive, especially with Will’s arc, which doesn’t seem to be going anywhere fast. It’ll be interesting to see how these emotional threads play out, but I’m hoping they start evolving more soon.
