‘Slow Horses’ Renewed by AppleTV+; Returning For Season 6
Apple TV+ has renewed the spy thriller series Slow Horses, starring Gary Oldman, for a sixth season.
The show, which concluded its fourth season on the streaming platform, will continue with the spies from Slough House facing high-stakes challenges orchestrated by Diana Taverner (Kristin Scott Thomas).
Season 6 will be based on two of Mick Herron’s novels, Joe Country and Slough House, the sixth and seventh books in the series.
Slow Horses has been a major success for Apple TV+, earning BAFTA nominations for Oldman and Jack Lowden, as well as a Primetime Emmy for writer Will Smith. The series features an ensemble cast including Jonathan Pryce, Hugo Weaving, and Joanna Scanlan, with Oldman portraying the character of Jackson Lamb, the head of Slough House. Season 4 delved into a plot involving River's grandfather, David Cartwright, and an ex-CIA agent named Frank Harkness who was training infants as assassins.
Season 5, set to premiere in 2025, was announced earlier this year. While Apple has previously released two seasons of Slow Horses simultaneously, there is currently no information available regarding Season 7.
Apple TV+'s Creative Director for Europe, Jay Hunt, expressed excitement about the upcoming season, stating, "Audiences worldwide have embraced the Slow Horses, and I am thrilled that Gary Oldman will lead this talented cast in another sharp and thrilling journey."
The show is being produced for Apple TV+ by Heartstopper creator See-Saw Films, with Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Julian Stevens, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Adam Randall, Gail Mutrux, Douglas Urbanski, and Oldman serving as executive producers. Season six is adapted for television by co-executive producer Gaby Chiappe, with Adam Randall returning as director.
